Keep your above ground pool water clean, soft, and refreshing with the Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump by INTEX. The sand provides excellent water filtration as the 6-function control valve allows the pool owner to: filter, backwash and rinse, recirculate, drain and close the system. The Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump generates a pump flow rate of 2,800 gallons per hour, ideal for above ground pools. This pump requires virtually no maintenance except replacement of sand every 5 years.

Good So Far - But Durability Is To Be Seen
I bought this for an above ground grey prism 15'x48" pool. Quality is good. Assembly is decent. I'd recommend to read the instructions. I did have to build a platform as its home base. I do recommend to secure the tank base with the pre-filter housing. The pre-filter housing is top heavy. I didn't anticipate that so I propped it up with pavers and pieces of plywood. The instructions mention it, but as a law in other countries, not as an issue with the pre-filter housing. I'd recommend to have an extra hose for the backwash connection. This is my first year. Talk to me in 2 more years.

Got this to use instead of the weak original pump
We bought one of these because the pump included with our pool was not powerful enough to run a robot cleaner and skimmer. I have mixed opinions on selling a pool with a weak pump but that's a matter for a different review. This unit arrived quickly, we used glass instead of sand, it connected very easily and runs everything just fine. The pool stays clean with minimal effort on my part and the pump is humming right along.

Excellent Pump Upgrade
Purchased this upgraded sand filter pump for our new Intex 14'x42" pool. Now the skimmer works and the solar fountain works! The water circulation is about double what we had with the pump that came included with the pool. The timer function works great as well.

Excellent filter and chlorinater!
Sand filter and salt water is the way to go! Third year using this and would never go back to chlorine and other filtration systems. It’s a bit tricky to set up and learn…but once you do it’s straight forward. If you don’t have an item pool, you will need the adapters. Also, you do need to shock your pool once a week. Just follow the instructions on maintenance and adding the appropriate amount of salts

It says it a 0.30 hp rated 2100 gph but if you look up the flow rate chart 0.30 gph is 700 gph but the side of the pump says it 0.24 hp so something is not adding up

Maybe we just got a good one. Purchased 3 years back when it was almost double the price. It’s been used on 14ftx42in intex for all three summers. This year we had to buy another pool, but the pump is still going strong. Be sure to watch an instructional video so you don’t blast sand into your pool like we did the first time. Great pump and love no filter changes! We were going through 20 filters a summer back in the day. Worth noting we had to replace a cracked center pipe(the pipe that says max/min) last year($21) for it.

Extremely poor-quality unit that fails to last.
2 seasons is all I got out of the unit before it needed a bunch of replacement parts and said replacement parts end up costing more than replacing the entire thing. Problems I have encountered so far this season: Error code 92, high salt, even with zero salt in the water. Pump timer no longer advances, so even setting pump to 1 hour means it will stay on forever until I turn it off. At least the filter housing hasn't cracked, yet. I'm sure that would be the next thing to happen if the unit wasn't going into the trash. At least when I purchased it the price was proper and sub 150 dollars, it's worth about 50 max.

Poor assembly!!
We bought this a week ago. We love the pump now BUT!! We assembled pump and put the sand it requires in. When we turned it on it blew half the sand in our pool. We found in the assembly of the pump someone doesn’t care about the product or their workmanship. The little plastic sand guards that are down inside tank were not tightened and one blew off. We had to dump the sand, find guard, check other guards to find three others that loose. You can’t get the plastic tube and plastic guards out of the pump so you would think they would come tightened securely and ready to fill. That’s not the case. MAKE SURE YOU REACH IN TANK AND CHECK PLASTIC GUARDS!!!

Stopped after 90 Days!
This was great for the first 90 days. Of course after it was not returnable it would just completely stop working! We are so devastated because we paid close to $500 for this and now its marked down to $299. You would think a pump like this would last longer than 90 days.
