Q: Is it loud?cause I heard it could be loud

submitted by Annie - 2 years ago
  • A: The Roomba e5 is quieter than a standard vacuum, and most consumers don’t report being disturbed by the robot running. You can always utilize the scheduling feature in the Home App to run your Roomba e5 while you’re out of your home.

  • A: it is very loud on hard surface floors, quieter on carpet.

Q: Is there any possible way it could damage any type of floor?

submitted by Bpunch - 3 years ago
  • A: I've been running a similar model (with rubber rollers like this one has) for 4 years on my hardwood floors without any damage. I think the only way you might be able to scratch your floors would be if something became caught on the bottom of the robot and the robot continued to run. I can't really see this happening, but I'm sure it's possible. You could avoid this potentiality by using the robot when you're home and could hear if something is caught under the machine. I don't -- and wouldn't -- use the robot on fine rugs or on rugs with fringe.

  • A: All Roombas are safe to use as instructed on finished hard floors and on carpet.

Q: How savy is the roomba? If we keep the romba in the kitchen, then move it to another area of the house with carpet, will it remember both rooms or locations?

submitted by Misty - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Misty, some iRobot® products can learn, map, and adapt to your home through a technology called Imprint® Smart Maps. By using Smart Maps, these products allow for more flexibility and control over your robot's cleaning by opening up new ways to clean your home to fit your lifestyle. The current robot models offering Smart Mapping technology are: i6/i7/i8; j7; s9; m6.

At first the product worked great and we’ve kept up with maintaining the cleaning with the parts but the battery is another issue. We are 9 months into owning it and the battery no longer holds it charge. We are lucky to get 5 minutes out of it.

I bought this in 2018. It has worked less than half the time since then. I am constantly trouble shooting issues. Currently have an error 11 that I cannot seem to resolve and of course it now recommends purchasing another battery. The replacement parts have already cost a fortune to keep the thing running as little as it does and the new battery they want me to purchase is $100. Not really Inclined to spend more money trying to keep this thing running. The small amount of time it actually worked it did an ok job. Never really seemed to learn the patterns of the house and was super loud running Into everything. I had much bigger hopes than it delivered.

Programmed Obsolescence?

A spent a year trouble-shooting near-constant quirks and glitches, and repeatedly considered returning it, but held off because each time I thought "surely, I've finally figured out this machines quirks. Then EXACTLY 13 months (convenient timing) after I got the machine, the cleaning module head dies. No way I'm dishing out another $70 to replace it. I've already wasted so much time and money trying to get this machine to work.

I have to use my dyson to pick up the clumps of dirt the roomba leaves behind. Now the roomba is going through every language in the world and I can't figure out how to stop it and it won't even clean. I'm ready to chuck it.

Save your money. The product is garbage. i was hesitant to purchase a roomba in the first place because I was afraid it was going to immediately break. My suspicion was correct. It worked for a couple months and has never worked again since. I've tried troubleshooting and calling customer support, nothing works. I'll definitely never buy another roomba again.

I bought this in 2020, and it worked for less than a year before I got an error 11. I did all of the things that the website said, changed the filter, the rollers, changed the cleaning head module, and nothing worked. It worked fine (though not that great) for a while, but it's definitely not worth the money. I will get something more durable next time.

It picks up dog hair well but is NOT VERY SMART. CONTINUALLY MISSES SPOTS & needs to be monitored. Why am I keeping this? It’s better than vacuuming 3x week.

Life Saver with 2 dogs and toddler

Works best when you are NOT home, if it hits an object then it will go off in another direction. It will learn your house the more you run it.. just looked on my app, I bought it in June 2020 and have used it for 843 cleanings. We have two black Great Danes and a 3 year old toddler, they make messes, the Roomba is used every day and that allows me to do just one weekly regular vacuum and mopping.

This was the biggest waste of money. I literally have to stand there and watch the robot to make sure it sucks up dirt and hair, which 90% of the time it doesn't. It misses SO many spots. I have a clean home I just wanted this for daily maintenance and I'm so disappointed. I'd rather just vacuum myself with my shark because at least I'll know I'm doing the job correctly. Absolutely awful I hate this thing.

I had a first generation Roomba several years ago and was always amazed at the amount of dirt and hair it picked up. With several pets in the house, hair is always an issue. I run it every morning while I am eating breakfast/reading emails. It gets around the whole house and finds its way home when the battery gets low. I have thin Ruggable carpets that it goes over easily and thoroughly. It notifiies me on my phone when it is in trouble. Has fallen down a step only once and otherwise has not gotten in a bind that it can't get out of. I am thoroughly impressed with this Roomba for the price

Do Not Buy

Biggest waste of money. From day one, it would pick up some dirt or dog hair and then dump it at it's nearest transition. I tried sweeping my linoleum before running it, which didn't help. Just takes the hair from the carpet and spreads it everywhere else.

Many Issues

1 out of 5 stars

Roomba - 7 months ago, Verified purchaser
My roomba had every issue listed in other reviews... it had trouble sucking up dirt and hair into the canister and so it would clump up under the rollers and spit it back out all over the floor. It would stop jobs just from hitting a table or wall. It would say the brushes had debri when they didn't and so I'd have to restart the job every 5 minutes. Wouldn't recommend.
