Poor Customer Service Regarding Ingredients!
1 out of 5 stars

We just purchased these about 3 weeks ago. My husband enjoyed them, but I have a sensitive stomach. I thought I could taste Anise seed. Although I thoroughly read the label, all I could find was "spices." Johnsonville Customer Service, I noticed that other reviewers have asked about the uninformative "Spices" reference, but you don't respond to these questions. Why is that? Every one of the reviewers had health concerns with a potentially included ingredient: Sodium, Fennel, Anise Seed. In case you are not sure, this is very poor Customer Service!

Dang we just bought some sausages and slowly cooked them in a cast iron pan in some black and tan beer and added some bell peppers and onions towards the end and caramelized the whole thing. You talking about good.I put mine in a bun and added some dukes horseradish mustard that's some good eating right there.Gonna try the hot ones next!
Incomplete Ingredients List

We just love the Mild Italian sausages. We are reticent to use them as one of us is allergic to garlic. In the ingredients list garlic isn't included, however, "spices" are. Is one of those spices garlic? If garlic is consumed, the throat closes and breathing becomes difficult... is it worth the risk of trying them? Ugh. Personally, I can't taste garlic in them, but the one that is allergic to it may not taste it, but WILL feel it. Not worth a trip to the Emergency Department just on a "dare."
Rethink the recipe!

Way too salty! I used to get these all the time. They have too much sodium anymore to feel good after eating.

I love this sausage but can not have it because the sodium content is so high. It would be great if you could make a salt free version, so many people are on sodium restricted diets today.
Ditch The Corn Syrup

Love Johnsonville products, but Italian Sausage could use a bit or help. Eliminate the corn syrup -- it reduces the sausage to a level that is alien to the Italian palate. Ruinous to an otherwise agreeable product.

I brought these because I really wanted a good mild sausage. These were so good. I cook the, in my air fryer and it gives it a nice crispy outside. My family is hooked on them now. I even put them in my lasagna for a little added heat and got rave reviews .

What can go wrong with a big Italian sausage. No shrinkage. What you see is what you get.

This is the only brand of Italian sausage I will buy. It's is packed with delicious flavor. I was having trouble getting my hands on it during pandemic and tried my stores brand. I was amazed at huge difference. The store brand was super bland. I will never buy another brand.

We’ve enjoyed your sweet/mild Italian sausages for years. We just purchased a new package of the mild version (links), and they are much thicker/fatter than before and taste nowhere near as good as in the past. We had to throw them out. Have you changed the recipe? The is new version made me a little nauseous, TBH.

Love these! We use them in soups and with breakfast. The best thing is you can cut them in wheels or slit the tube and treat it like ground sausage.

We love the Tuscan soup at Olive Garden. Tried making it, but it was off, we realized it was the sausage. We bought Italian sausage from every meat market, and off the shelf in our area( South Texas) we cooked them all, then started a taste test. BINGO! The Johnsonville Mild and Hot was the sausage that nailed it. I now make Tuscan soup all the time and everyone we share it with loves it.

Turn black when you cook them

I've been cooking sausage for 40 years. Why do Johnsonville patties turn black instead of brown when you cook them on medium heat for only 4 minutes a side? Seems like inferior ingredients to me.
1 reply from alta team - 4 years ago
Hi, thank you for bringing this to our attention. They should not be turning black. Please call our Customer Service Team at 888-556-2728 for assistance with updated cooking instructions.
