Q: What is the back of the desk like? Is it finished so that it could face out into the room?

A: The back of this desk is definitely NOT fully finished. There are staples and unfinished materials so that you cannot have the back exposed and facing out in the room.

I love the look of it, but my desk got a crack down the middle after maybe a month. And the drawers are super hard to open and close. Easy to put together, but would not recommend.

Bought this as an entry way table for our apartment. It's a little big for the small entry way but we decided it would be fine. It thankfully didn't come extremely damaged or uneven as half the reviews have stated. It does have a good number of dings and scratches that you would not want for a brand new, never before owned piece. The biggest problem is the drawer hardware. Once we finally were able to get both drawers opened (this is also where the instructions are hidden) and install the knobs, one of the drawer knobs came right off the next day. It seems the piece that sits inside the knob and catches the screw became un glued? or something. Before this happened this same knob arrived with a large noticeable chip on its front and then did not sit flush against the drawer face as the other did. So I guess it's okay starting furniture but there are risks for mishaps and its a little pricy for all this risk.

The desk is beautiful, but mine had a big gash on the top. Another positive is that the drawers slide nicely. That aside, it really is too short to be an adult sized desk. I’m short (5’4”) and my back hurts sitting in a standard chair due to the low level.

The table is low and too short for an adult to use as a desk. I measured the table's height and it was 29 inches and not 30 inches as listed in the description. The legs were possibly cut too short during manufacturing. Ultimately, I would not recommend as an office desk. Also, the table did not come with assembling instructions.

So disappointing. I was really looking forward to getting this as it was a gift for a loved one. Setting it up isn't the difficult part, it's realizing the manufacturer didn't cut the legs the same length after assembling it!!! The desk wobbles terribly!! NEARLY 1/2" DIFFERENCE IN LEG LENGTH!
Plus it comes with a small bag of parts that are not enough to do anything with... and there are no instructions for these random pieces some of which are zip ties. ZIP TIES???

Very disappointed that the back of this desk is NOT finished as the Christopher Knight Home team had indicated in the Q&A for this item. There are staples and unfinished materials fully exposed in the back. I wanted to have this desk facing out in the office and would not have ordered if the incorrect information had not been provided. We looked through the entire contents for another piece that might need to be assembled. Such a hassle to have to pack this all back up and return to a store.

It's nice to get a wood desk when most items today are particle board! It is heavy duty and solid. It was easy to assemble. There were marks impressed all across the top, like something rolled across it that shouldn't have. It isn't obvious, so I won't be returning for it. It is taller than it appears in the pictures. I bought it as a homework desk for my 11 year old daughter's room and she loves it. It is a true walnut color. I would have rated 5 stars but the back is NOT finished. I read in some reviews that it was. I had to place it in a different location than I had planned. It has a nice design and would go with many different decors.

I like the look of the desk/table. However, the top of the table has a gash on it. It's not totally cracking the wood, but really close. I would trade it out, however its so heavy. Im just going to keep it and hope people think the flaw is suppose to be there.
