A: I have one. It does cut down on smoke and steam better than just a spatter screen.. Beyond a splatter screen, it ABSORBS odors. Let me repeat that it absorbs odors, not just prevents odors from escaping. Searing fish no longer stinks up my entire house. it is hard to believe, it works so well.. as for the size, it's large for my pans, but doesn't matter, I just place a section over the pan, and do not open the handle but rather use it like a handle on a lid. and honestly don't see any reason to ever open the handle up for any size pan. Since I never deep fry anything, I don't if I will ever need to open the handle. To each their own!

I can’t believe it took me this long to get one!! Frying bacon or chicken there’s always such a mess with splatter and the kitchen smells like bacon for the day. I bought this and boy is there a difference. Minimal clean up, a little splatter does get on the stove top once you take the screen off (duh) but it’s very minimal. I do however notice the smell but not nearly as intense or long. All in all I won’t fry without it. Love it!

Works perfectly, no splattering due to water condensation. The product info states 13", but it's really more like 12" of screen surface. The steam escapes easily and odors minimized. The other reviews that show burned areas of the splatter guard must've left it unattended, or set their flame at a strength/level that exceeded their pan size. Best part is that it's dishwasher friendly. I used it the day I received it, and was grateful for how well they packaged the item in a box that had plenty of paper wrap/buffer. At first I thought it was excessive packaging, but it's the first time I've ordered a mesh screen that didn't get dented/twisted. Only thing I noticed that was off was a tiny discoloration in the mesh, but it didn't affect the performance.

Really like this product, it keeps oil from splattering all over the place. It does help “trap” some of the smoke from frying with oil, while it’s on the pan, of course once you lift it that smoke is released. Easy to clean for the most part, takes a touch more to rinse the soap out of between the mesh screens. It’s fells sturdy and well made. I would recommend this product and am very happy with my purchase.

This item claims to be dishwasher safe but it isn't... I put it in the dishwasher and it got ruined. Not sure what happened since it has been in the dishwasher quite a few times (I only put it in there when it gets really greased up from cooking). Target didn't want to do much when it came to helping out with a replacement which was upsetting. I wouldn't spend the $20 on something like this again.

i'm very intimidated when cooking with oil and this works great. it keeps the stove clean too by catching the oil spatter and absorbs the smell well. i haven't cleaned this by hand, i usually just throw it in the dishwasher and it stays clean.

So I have never owned one of these before... I will never go without one again! If you look at the photo, there is some light grease on my tea pot and some drops of grease. I made fried chicken sandwiches tonight. The drops are from me being clumsy moving the chicken to a plate and the light amount on the teapot is from me lifting up the screen to remove and place new chicken in my pan. I only hand wash this so I am not sure how the dishwasher will affect it. I haven’t tried bacon yet but I know it’s going to be a game changer! Worth every penny.

I bought and used this in the same day and am pleased with the purchase. I have it 4 just because I have used it once. It hasn’t been washed and is currently in dishwasher. But if the metal tarnishes or melts or whatever other reviews said, it won’t bother me because I bought this for a use and not for looks.
