Q: Are the edges smooth on this? I have an older Kitchen Aid version of this and the wires are knotted around the basket and are sharp and my dish cloth always snags on it.

This is an ideal strainer if you are frying food , and allows the grease to fall back into your skillet freely. Less grease on your food. Better than using a spoon with holes, or using a spatcula when picking up your fried food out the grease.

This is a must have item especially if you plan on deep frying anything. It’s way easier to move the food around and see what you’re doing and you can scoop it right out the fryer and not have to worry about scooping extra oil with it. Seems well made and is very easy to clean.

I got the KitchenAid Stainless Steel All Purpose Strainer and LOVE it. It is so sturdy and easy to use. I love to deep fry food once in a while and this is perfect for those occasions. KitchenAid is a trusted brand making high quality products, and this spider/strainer is a great example of that. Super sturdy, but comfortable to hold, it worked great to strain my soup stock. Cleaned up like a charm in the dishwasher too. Can't wait to try it when frying up some onion rings!

Listed as an all purpose strainer, but this is a huge strainer intended for deep fryer, oil based cooking. I use it to get eggs out of boiling water. It is a sturdy tool for the job and long enough.
