Follow the directions and you can make awesome cotton candy at home. Also, like another reviewer suggested you need to spin the cotton candy horizontally above the heating ring as opposed to vertically around the bowl. My 7 year old loves it!

It works!

I was afraid to purchase because of the mixed reviews BUT it works. You have to heat up the machine 5 mins before using. Then turn it off and add ONLY one spoon full of sugar. If you add more than that it can mess up the machine. Also when you twirl the stick you do it above the machine NOT in and around the bowl. I’m sure there are better machines out there but for the price it’s decent. The birthday girl was happy!

do not recommend

it does not produce what it needs to most of the cotton candy goes on the inside wall of the machine. it is easy to clean pieces that come off but the middle piece is not able to get wet and after using the machine product gets stuck and just a damp cloth does not do the trick. I would invest in a better cotton candy maker.

Gets the job done,

Ok it gets the job done yay!! I do have to spin my paper wand really fast. I found that Using a drill is easier than hand twirling a whole party lol. I prefer the bowl to be bugger, if you accidentally bump the spinner is knocks or stops, even if you touched it EVER so lightly. I do think the gray center where the sugr collects and melts is kind of weird. Of course never let kids near it, but the one by Nostalgia is better overall when it comes amount of heating coil and hot bits you could accidentally touch & when it comes to how easy it is to make cotton candy. Also hot plastic smell is a concern sometimes. Bowl’s rim doesn’t stay snapped in , always pops off. Sometimes someone else holds it for me.

Worth the Purchase!

I was a little nervous purchasing this because of all the bad reviews. But with any item, it’s hard to differentiate between user error and a poor product. I ended up purchasing anyway and this maker is awesome! Setup is simple and actually making the cotton candy is easy. Some of the parts are dishwasher safe and the parts that aren’t, just get wiped with a wet rag making for an easy cleanup. The unit itself isn’t huge which makes it easy to store. This was definitely a win for my kids Christmas. They are obsessed!
