Q: Can this be ceiling mounted using the supplied base?

A: Provided the tilt angle works for what you need, the issue would be with how you mount it to the ceiling. Mounting on a wall will produce a moment on the screws into the wall (i.e. pull on them at an angle: the head of the screw is pulled down, angling the tip of the screw up into the stud the screw is in which will help support the fan), but if you mount it to a ceiling, the full weight of the fan will pull the screws straight down from the ceiling. Having once worked for a company that often received similar questions for their products, I would expect that the manufacturer of the fan won't answer this one, even if you call. You should ask at your local hardware/diy store, who can offer advice on whether this would be possible.

A: Using an app on my phone, the fan’s lowest setting measured 58db, medium setting measured 60db, and highest setting measured 62db. Although that isn’t inordinately loud to me, it isn’t “whisper quiet” as the manufacturer represents on its website, either.

I believe this is my third time buying this fan, it works that well. My other two came with a remote control LOL. I’ve had my current one for many years, it’s been a long time and it’s sticking kicking! I was so happy to be able to get it in black this time. It’s powerful, gets the job done, and very well! I have mixed feelings about this product. On the positive side, it moves air pretty well and it isn’t inordinately loud. Based on db measurements that I took with an app on my phone, the fan’s lowest setting measured 58db, medium setting measured 60db, and highest setting measured 62 db. Thus, there isn’t much noise difference between the highest setting and lowest setting. That said, the fan is really large, and for a 20” blade span, I’d expected it to move more air than it does. Also, although the fan isn’t inordinately loud, it isn’t “whisper quiet” as the manufacturer states on its website, either.

I pulled my air circulating fan out of the closet, plugged it in, and it didn't work. Into the trash it went, and I ordered this one from Target. It's wonderful, it's great, and my cats hog it, so all of us will be cool from now on.
