Q: I sleep with a fan for white noise, is it loud?
A: These are not like prior versions we purchased and love for white noise. We purchased 2 recently and both were too quiet to serve that purpose even on full speed. Barely a breeze too.
submitted byBumSteer - 3 years agoA: Not sure what the other person is talking about, but I've been sleeping with this fan on me for at least 7 years. (The same one - I'm finally needing to replace it because the click adjustment mechanism has given out.) I literally cannot sleep without white noise or moving air, and this fan; s PERFECT. It generates consistent lovely white noise on high and blows a consistent cooling wind. I HIGHLY recommend it as a sleeping fan.
submitted byAshleigh - 4 years agoA: This fan generates enough white noise to cancel moderate fluctuations of noise. I have two . . I never thought I'd love a fan, but their design optimizes air movement AND adequately covers noise.
submitted byCate Currie - 3 years agoA: Thank you for your inquiry. This fan is fairly quiet, and has been designed to be silent. It will not generate white noise. Q: Does this help provide a loud enough white noise? Sounds silly, but plan on taking it to a hotel bc it's always so quite in the rooms.
A: Thank you for your inquiry Heather. This fan was made to be 25% quieter than our previous fans. On low, this fan is very unobtrusive, but the higher speeds do generate some white noise. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@HelenofTroy.com. Thank you.
submitted byManufacturer Tech Support - 6 years agoBrand expertA: I would definitely say yes. I can't do white noise, I prefer a really quiet room and can't sleep if this is above the low setting. Medium and High definitely provide adequate white noise.
submitted byme - 8 years agoA: This was asked two years ago but I figured my answer may help someone looking now. I'm actually buying this fan (again) FOR the white noise. These things are workhorses and last for years. You can't beat the price!
submitted byChuck Orlando - 5 years agoA: Yes, have hung this in our laundry room for hanging clothes. I can hear it through the door when it is on high

Q: How to remove grid grill cover to clean blades and grid grill; do not have user manual. I removed the Honeywell logo center of grill, but unsure to actually remove the grill
A: Thank you for your inquiry. To remove the front grille, lay the unit face down. Around the back edge of the grille will be a series of deep holes. At the base of the holes will be Philips head screws. Loosen these to remove the front grille. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@HelenofTroy.com. Thank you.
submitted byManufacturer Tech Support - 6 years agoBrand expertA: I have own three of these fans over twenty years. I unplug mine and run them under the bathtub's faucet. It gets them very clean. I have done this several times when they began to stall and not run properly. It appeared that the engine in the back became clogged with the fan's lint.
submitted byDoug269 - 5 years agoA: The screws are tiny cross-head style that are set very deeply. The screws are super soft and strip quite easily. Other than the fiddly difficulty trying to remove the screws without stripping them, the fan is a great little air mover! When it seems like it's starting to slow down (it does slow down) it's time to take it a part and clean it.

A: Thank you for your inquiry. We do not rate the CFM or dB of our fans. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact our consumer relations team by emailing us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com. Thank you.
submitted byManufacturer Tech Support - 3 years agoBrand expertA: I don't know the CFM or DB ratings, I can tell you though the new fans (900 series) "25% quieter" are indeed quieter but they also seem roughly 50% weaker than the older turbo fans (800 series)

Q: Is this fan quiet or loud?
A: It's pretty quiet. I've done several Zoom meetings with it running within two feet of me (on the lowest setting, which is pretty strong when you're that close) and I haven't had any problems hearing people or them hearing me (and I don't talk any louder than normal). I've also had two running at once on the highest setting for a whole room. My parents are in their 60s and have trouble hearing in some settings, but we were able to talk normally even with both fans running.
