Description

Kids become "King of the Pirates!" when they set sail with the Straw Hat crew aboard the Going Merry! This LEGO ONE PIECE building set lets fans ages 10 and up construct and display the iconic ship presented to Luffy and his nakama by Kaya in honor of their friendship with Usopp. Rich with authentic details from the Netflix series, the Going Merry features multiple deck levels and interior spaces—from the cozy crew's cabin and well-stocked kitchen to storage areas and Usopp's workshop where he crafts weapons and gadgets. Young builders can recreate their favorite moments: position Luffy on his special seat atop the ram figurehead (ready with cannon below), have Zoro train with weights on deck, place Nami at the rudder near her beloved tangerine trees, send Usopp climbing to the crow's nest, and let Sanji prepare meals in his kitchen domain. The set includes detailed minifigures of all five original Straw Hat Pirates plus four "Wanted" posters showing their rising bounties. Whether for play or display, this meticulously crafted vessel makes an impressive gift for ONE PIECE collectors and young pirates who dream of adventure on the Grand Line. I loved taking the time to building this set, I do wish the tail door opened a little better but could be builder error.

The set that brought me back to LEGO!

This Going Merry is the set that brought me back to LEGO! A big part of my childhood and teenage years was spent playing with Danish plastic bricks, not only building official sets but also creating my own models. As the years went by, my hobbies and interests evolved. Reading manga became one of my favourite pastimes as a teenager, and One Piece, with its crazy universe, quickly became one of my favourite series. Crazy to think that I’ve been reading this particular manga for about twenty years now! When LEGO announced the release of the Going Merry, complete with the core crew as minifigures, my girlfriend immediately knew what to do, and it was pre-ordered as soon as possible. I actually received the set the day before its official release! Unfortunately, I had to wait several weeks before finally opening the box and building it. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, made even easier by today’s detailed instructions and the parts being separated into numbered bags. I loved the final result, but I could also see a few areas that could be improved, most notably the Going Merry’s figurehead and the tangerine trees. I needed a few extra parts for those modifications, and that’s how I discovered the resale market, and BrickLink in particular. I became an AFOL almost overnight and haven’t looked back since. One year later, I have enhanced the Going Merry throughout, sharing instructions for the biggest improvements with the online LEGO community, including the redesigned figurehead and tangerine trees. At the same time, I’ve continued fine-tuning the build over the months until I finally felt satisfied with it. Since then, I’ve also started creating my own MOCs, and I can’t wait for the next wave of One Piece sets and minifigures to be released. Yes, the Going Merry was a very special set for me, and I’m truly thankful for it. :)

    Disaster

This was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a Lego set! Pieced kept falling off when I would add a new piece. Windows would not stay on at all. Worse than a knock-off. ( am tired of being ‘the quality control » for Lego. The final straw came when I tried to add the stern and no way would it fit! In fact, it became destroyed while trying to put it together. I have put together over 60 sets so not a novice. I would reallly like my money and TIMEreturned.

It's disappointing when your build isn’t going as planned and we're sorry to hear you've had some troubles keeping your set together. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. If you've made sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together and are finding that the pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to give us a shout at LEGO.build/Service so we can help!

    Horrible

The instructions are horribly written, the build is very flimsy and rarely works. The only good part about this set is the figures. Totally disappointing

I'm 35 and this was my first build. It was easy enough but still satisfying. The final build is gorgeous!

    Better than expected

My first one piece set, I went for this set as it has the main crew and although new to the one piece universe, I know how iconic the going merry is. The build itself was interesting especially since most of my collection is Star Wars. At times frustrating, especially that last piece of deck you slot in. The minifigures in this set are amazing, the detail and printing on arms and legs is something I can appreciate. From what I’ve seen, across the board, the one piece minifigures set the bar high. The going merry makes a great display piece and is great value if like me you’re able to find it at 20% off. Highly reccomend!

First 1k+ piece build was FUN

This was my first bigger build Lego set. It was so much fun putting everything together. There is way more detail and layers to this than you can tell from just the pictures. 10/10 would recommend. Oh and the random Wanted Posters you find when building just adds an extra layer of fun to this build.

    Really but lootbox!!

I really enjoyed this set and the build. Until; I did not know Lego now participates in what essentially is a lootbot. On the last bag you get a "random" wanted poster. Me thinking its just a nice surprise. NOPE its a gamble. Now i have double of the same character. Completely ruined my experience and end. I would not recommend. I bought it to get a nice full set and experience not to buy gambling toy!! Completly killed the whole build experience. Honestly shame.

NOT worth of money - ongoing missing parts from several different sets!

I’ve been a long-time LEGO fan, but recently I’ve had repeated issues with missing pieces in multiple sets. For a brand that charges premium prices, this is honestly disappointing. When you pay this much, you expect consistency and quality—but having to stop builds midway because parts are missing really ruins the experience. In my latest set, I even received incorrect pieces (two left parts instead of a left and a right), making it impossible to complete the build properly. At this point, it feels like the quality control isn’t matching the price anymore. I hope LEGO seriously addresses these ongoing issues, because right now it doesn’t feel worth the cost.

Excellent set for any One Piece fan

This may be my favorite build yet. I may be biased right now because I'm deep into the anime and also watch the live action show. The accessible compartments and radomized wanted posters are great features. I added blue faceplates (not included) and added random waves and water stream from the rudder, which helps the build pop when on display.

    Overall great

I have been a fan of the One piece series for 10 years so I am excited Lego is doing a theme. I think it adapts the live action show well but I personally think that the anime / manga ship would have been more visually interesting but I am happy either way (it is also a fun challenge to change it to the original one).

Cool Set... but I must have pretty bad luck!

The Going Merry Lego build itself was very good, with only one missing piece that reappeared as an extra in a different color. Luckily, I already had that piece in my spare parts bin. My main issue were the wanted posters. I received 1 Alvida and 3 Gol D. Rogers! Is there something I can legally do, or am I condemned to having to trade these Rogers for something else with anyone else who hasn't reached the same unfortunate fate? I had fun building and playing with the set, but I do wish that Lego made sure not to put duplicate wanted posters in the same set.
1 reply from LEGO® Customer Service team - 6 months ago
Thank you for your review. The wanted posters in these sets are randomized. There is a chance you might get duplicates. The awesome thing about these is that they’re fun to trade with your friends!
