LEGO Technic Tipping Dump Truck Building Toy 42203

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ended up giving it to my godson. My godson and I put it together and I love how versatile and easy to assemble it is. He is old enough to know that parts shouldn’t be swallowed so safety features of it I cannot recommend to kids under 5, made a lot of noise but super durable.

But I was able to easily go to the Lego website and fill out a form saying which pieces I need and they will ship for free! Overall, I would say this is an intermediate build because there were some steps that were tricky. You must carefully look at the diagram when building or things don't fit right and you have to go back and re-do it.

Usual Lego Technic greatness for vehicles and models. Larger than expected based on piece count. Hand of god steering, only improvement I think could have been made would have been use of gear driven actuators instead of the lift arm mechanism for tilting the bed and increasing bed size to make it more realistic.

The instructions were easy to follow, and the build took about 30–45 minutes with some help. The finished truck is sturdy, and the tipping feature works smoothly—great for imaginative play. The set includes fun details like a construction worker mini-figure, a shovel, and small bricks to “dump.” The bright yellow design makes it easy to spot among other toys, and it's the perfect size for little hands. Highly recommend this for any kid who loves trucks or construction. It’s a great mix of building and interactive play. Plus, as a teacher, I love how it encourages fine motor skills and following step-by-step directions.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Lego Tipping Dump Truck (42203) was a fun set to put together. I can see why there’s a 9+ age rating on it, as my oldest wasn’t quite strong or dexterous enough to snap some of the pieces together. Sometime after completing the first bag, my assistant disappeared and I ended up building the remainder of the set. In total, I think it took about 2 hours to assemble. This truck is much larger than I was expecting (larger than the several model car sets we have). I like how it has a dumping feature, but cranking the knob is a bit of a slow process. This part was a good teaching moment while building though, to show and explain how gears work. There is also a knob on top of the cab to control the direction of the front tires. The cab doors are hinged and can be opened. The interior of the cab/seating is too large for a minifig to be the driver, but I’m sure they’ll find someone else for the driver’s seat!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was very entertaining to make, with all the moving parts, very easy to follow, step by step instructions & parts packaged in a great way so that you only open what you need for those steps to prevent loss. All in all a great little project even for adults

Love how Lego have moved over to paper numbered packets in their sets and the manual was very in-depth, if a little unclear in places. It's been hours of fun building with still a few left but would make a great challenge for a Lego builder young and old

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It has been way too many years since I’ve last done Legos, but this new Technic line is too cool. We knew based on the age suggestion it was going to be way too advanced for our 3 year old, but thought it may be a good activity for him to do alongside Dad for some father-son bonding. The kid loves dump trucks, so he was very excited about it. My husband said the instructions were very easy to follow, he appreciated that the pieces were bagged into sections so that there weren’t too many pieces out at once, and it kept our 3 year old sitting and engaged for 2.5 hours. He loves figuring out how things work and building, so this actually turned out to be a great activity for him. They didn’t use the app at all during the build, but out of curiosity I downloaded it. It’s very sleek and gives you a much more visual instructions option, but also great to have if you lose the instruction manual.

It was a fun Lego to build my grandpa help when I got stuck , I loved the stickers and and that I could steer it and dump the bed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So all in all it took me around 2 and a half hours to complete. Some bits were quite fiddly - the hardest part was the doors, i just couldnt get them right but it turns out lego sent me 3 number 22 parts instead of 2 number 22 and 2 number 21 so a part of the door is now back to front. However its not that noticeable and my kids still love playing with the built dump truck!!

This was a fun build. It was nice seeing how it all came together. Loved all the moving functions.

This set has a nice variety of wheels and I love the color. It's a nice parts pack to add to the Ford GT (42154). BUT, it would have been a better technic set if it included differential gears and an engine. Being an old man, I remember how Technic sets were all about functionality. Now it seems Lego is shooting for looks. I'd rather have more functional parts than parts to make a smooth cab on a dump truck.

This is a great set for a 7 year old Lego fanatic. He loves this set and it compliments ones he already owns.

It is a nice size truck. I have the Lego build app, so it was easy to assemble. I like appearance of the truck. It will displayed with the rest of my vehicles.
