Lego the Art of the Minifigure - by Brian Barrett (Hardcover)

On a scale of 0-10 of Lego fanhood, serious AFOLs being a 5, and 10 reserved for people who change/expand/influence LEGO culture/community/history, I'm at about a 4.5. I don't own many Lego books but I do watch a lot of Lego related content including documentaries. That said, I liked the book. As some other reviews suggest, it doesn't have a ton of facts etc. but that doesn't mean it doesn't have any! I still learnt new things from the book. That said, it's called the ART of minifigure, and not the SCIENCE. So people shouldn't be suprised that it includes beautiful photos, design plans, the history of evolution of the minifig (how and why it came to be, to persist and to continue growing and expanding), etc. So if you appreciate the artistic side of books, it might be for you. However... if you want a lot of facts, numbers, and in general are looking for new information, then it works as a first purchase of books about minifigs, but it's possibly not for people who already follow Lego and minifigs religiously... for those I would probably suggest finding a minifig catalogue instead. All in all, I don't regret the purchase, and I even ejoyed learning about the Star Wars bits (of which I am usually not a fan). So... as a first book or as a book to be enjoyed in terms of art, I'd give it a thumbs up, but if you're a level 5+ Lego fan you might be totally OK with skipping this one.
