Q: Do I need a powerful reliable fast Internet connection for this device?

submitted by Will - 6 months ago
  • A: Hi, Will. It will depend on the game you wish to play or what you plan to do exactly with the Legion Go that is web-based. For example, if you're playing Minecraft locally, a high-speed internet connection isn't important. But if you want to play an online multiplayer game, stream a game or even high-resolution streaming, a stable and quick internet connection will be important for you to have the best experience.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was an initial Steamdeck supporter, while a great system the larger screen, better processor and larger support for games on the Legion GO called to me. I haven't been disappointed with the purchase I use it daily to play my library of games not only on Steam but GOG and Origin (without having to mess with a workaround.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] An amazing handheld. Plays all games I throw at it really well. Was extremely amazed at getting FFVII Rebirth running on the device with very minimal tweaking. Would highly recommend getting this device especially if you enjoy using detachable controllers as well. I also use it as a tablet to watch videos whenever im cooking as well so it serves many purposes asides from just a gaming handheld.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Legion Go is a great device but not without its faults. The screen is large, and beautiful. It's powerful enough and designed well but then the shortcomings start to reveal. The battery life could be better. It's also unclear how to get the thing to go to sleep sometimes, so it may end up staying on and too hot when in the bag I keep it in. The detachable controllers seemed better in theory, and they were what initially drew me into the device. In practice, I can't say I've ever really used them. The controllers aren't super comfortable to hold long-term. And the device is just a little too big and cumbersome to be as handheld as you might think. Overall, I have high Lenovo brand loyalty and will continue to buy their products versus others but the Legion Go very much feels like a first gen device.

    controllers suck

Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
Controllers suck - 2 months ago
None of my games can identify the controllers. because of this the controls are messed up, i have to hold both of the controllers sideways which is uncomfortable. couch co-op game for some reason you can join as a second player and only the second player has normal controls. the controllers are too sensitive if I go up and just tilt to the left by like 3° degrees it will make me go diagonal. id be better off connecting all the consoles I already have to my Pc.

Well what can I say about the go? It exceeded my expectations and is an amazing device ! The screen is beautiful and at 500 nits, it’s perfect . People say it’s not bright enough and I wonder? I’m maxed out at 70 lol. Battery…. Well it’s got power and I get about the same as I would with my laptop. 3-4 hours which is more then enough for me . Ergonomics of the controllers are ok.. but nothing a grip can’t fix . If you want a taste of everything in the pc world , well here you go! People need too understand , yes you can game out the box , but basic pc knowledge will make you love this machine even more . VRR… wish it was implanted from the beginning . That being said , hooking up to a monitor is nice BUT KNOW YOUR LIMITS . VRR with free sync would have been a game changer . But there is a way around this some what .. playing at 60? Feels sluggish ? Move too 144 hz . It does the trick . All and all this machine is amazing with some flaws but nothing too make you change your mind . I love it , some minor tweaks but that’s why the go 2 is coming . This is my daily driver and will be for a long time .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I find this has versatility, as it is not only intended for gaming, but also can be used as a full Windows 11 computer. The screen is very bright and sharp with good colors. Touch is very responsive. The ram is shared, and setting to 8Gb in the bios helps game play. Also, set resolution down a notch can help with frame rate. Trying to be a Windows gaming console has drawbacks. The biggest issue is simply that most Windows games on Steam require a keyboard and mouse inputs. There are only some that are fully compatible for controllers, and others with limited controller support. So for full functionality, you must use an external keyboard / mouse. The sound output from the tiny speakers is poor - the sound quality needs to be improved. Using headphones is the alternative. Battery life is limited. If gaming, 2 to 3 hours is about the limit - be prepared to be near an outlet for longer periods of time. I also found, as others, that this generates a lot of heat. I can see where the Micro SD card could be "fried". I set the fans to a higher level in hopes to not encounter this. Frame rates were certainly not as good as a higher powered computer or console, but overall, I found games to be mostly playable - although with lower FPS. Overall, the console can play games, and double as a "mini laptop" on the go, and if found on sale, could be an entertaining device.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lenovo Legion Go has the potential to be better gaming wise, some game titles play better than others but only happens to installed games, doesn’t apply to cloud gaming. Too much tweaking on the Amd app to get the installed games to run smoothly. The speakers sound terrible, even though I understand the conservative of power since the battery doesn’t really last that long to begin with(only applies to gaming)good battery power when browsing and streaming movies. Other than that I love the size and the clarity of the screen, I don’t really use the touchpad but At the same time I don’t mind it being there. I like the detachable controllers but occasionally one might come off while holding it. I work at a hospital and on my breaks I like to game a little, but a lot of the times I’m tweaking the Legion go to play some titles. I play Call of duty normally and the stress of tweaking the settings to play this game without crashing has been a nightmare, too much video lag.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Basically a mini-pc with joysticks and other gaming focus needs. Used it as a moonlight game streaming client and it's perfect. The only imperfection is the whiny fan, where there's a high pitch noise at low speed and the default fan curve is too loud for a silent stream machine. Would give it a 5 stars if they could fix those two issues.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Legion Go is an amazing little handheld, I've used other handheld gaming devices in the passed but this by far has been my favorite. It runs games very well with a little bit of tinkering in the settings. I've played everything from Dave the Diver to BLOPS6 without any issue. It works great in handheld but really good in a dock when you can upscale. My only concern is it you're using it on the go for an extended period of time you'll definitely need a power bank to go with it. The batteries on the device don't last very long due to the screen. Again you can adjust settings to get more battery life. Overall I'm very happy with my Go and will more than likely be picking up a Legion Go 2
