Description
About the Book
"The book of Hebrews can be intimidating. With its complex allusions to the Old Testament and its at times cryptic imagery, many Christians don't know how to read this curious epistle, much less apply it in any practical fashion for today. In his book, Michael Kibbe explores the book of Hebrews and shows how the primary audience was living in a hostile world, inhospitable to life. But the author of Hebrews offers a theological vision to readers that offers life where no life should flourish. Through the person of Jesus there is hope to not just survive our broken world, but to persevere and thrive"-- Provided by publisher.Book Synopsis

Review Quotes
"How to survive in a world ill-equipped for sustaining life? Michael Kibbe draws on the condition of ectopic pregnancy-life in a space that cannot sustain it-as a window into the lessons taught in the book of Hebrews. Kibbe offers academic prowess, down-home practicality, conversational style, and splashes of real-life sorrow as he brings Hebrews alive. This fresh reframing of Hebrews will bear fruit in readers wherever they are in their journey with Christ through the wilderness we call life."
--Lynn H. Cohick, distinguished professor of New Testament at Houston Theological Seminary"In a world that often feels inhospitable to the life of faith, Michael Kibbe reminds us of the beauties of Jesus, who has passed through suffering into glory and who bids us to come and follow him. Discover afresh the wonders of the book of Hebrews and how Jesus' faithfulness is the fuel of our faithfulness and abundant life."
--Philip Miller, senior pastor of The Moody Church"From the heart of a scholar who has lived in Hebrews and the heart of a pastor who has lived the ups and downs of life, Michael Kibbe, in Life in a Lifeless World, offers readers an in-depth look at Hebrews to answer the real questions of those who want to have faith in the midst of a broken world.
