Q&A(75)

Q: I understand the room darkening.....do these also provide some sort of blocking from the outside in? I recently moved to a street level apt and I don't want everyone to be able to look into my space if the curtains are closed.

submitted by cp - 7 years ago
  • A: I cannot imagine that you would be able to see in. These are THICK curtains.

submitted byMilfordJess - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi CP - We understand how important your privacy is, so we're glad you asked! These curtain panels will block incoming light but may not prevent seeing in. We recommend you look into blackout or thermal lined curtain panels for more privacy. Thanks for stopping by! - Shelly

Q: Does the picture show 2 panels of 63"x42" or 2 panels of 84"x42"? I want the same fullness so I'm trying to copy the look. Please advise. Thanks!

submitted by kat - 5 years ago
  • A: The picture shows 2 panels of 63" x 42" panels. Typically in photos the 84" panels will hit the floor. The 63" panels will be near the window sill.

Q: Are these curtains fire resistant?

submitted by k - 9 months ago
  • A: These will catch on fire very easily just by lying against a baseboard heater. I was not aware of this until after I bought several and hung them up. Money wasted, but luckily removed them before our house caught fire.

submitted byElizabethMT - 7 months ago
  • A: Hello! Our Room Essentials Darkening Window Curtain Panels are designed for Noise reduction, UV Protection, Thermal Insulated, and Energy Efficiency. We have not created them for fire resistance. Thank you for shipping at Target. Tab

Q: Can these be washed and put in the dryer?

submitted by Lp - 10 months ago
  • A: Don't do it!! They fall apart. The back material sticks to itself and pulls off large chunks, which then allow light to pass through like any other standard cloth curtain. Washed per the instructions, as did another commenter -- all six of ours were ruined on the first wash and now have to be replaced.

Q: After laundering per instructions, the backing came off in small chunks. I did not put in the dryer. How can I launder these without them falling apart? I will need to replace 3 of 7 panels?

submitted by ciaobella - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello ciaobella - We appreciate your interest in these curtains. You may machine mash and dry using non chlorine bleach when needed with like colors. You can also contact us on 800-591-3869 for further queries. We hope this fixes the issue. - Nikitha

  • A: All six of ours had this happen, very first wash, following all care instructions, and all six have to be replaced because they no longer block light. They should just be honest and label these as not washable. I'd still have bought them, but now I just feel cheated and angry.
