I loved this romcom of “Golden Girls” meet “The Love Boat”. The characters were so fun to get to know and I loved how the storyline had a couple twists I didn’t see coming!!!! My husband and I went on our first cruise 5 months ago, so I was imagining what if this had happened on our cruise!!!!!! Truly hope I get to see these characters again in a future book!!!

So much fun! The four elderly women, self-named the Shippers, were hilarious and so much fun to get to know. This book was a whirling ride of antics and intrigue. With a bit of mystery, a heaping helping of humorous situations, stubborn victims of love and some even more stubborn matchmakers, I enjoyed every moment, from the first step on board to the final disembarkment. Jon and Lacey were a hero and heroine to root for (and they had four enthusiastic Shippers doing just that in the most unconventional of ways) and I loved the growth that Lacey in particular accumulated over the course of the story. With shenanigans, laughs and twists that I did not see coming, Love Overboard kept me fully engaged and thoroughly entertained. I loved it! The author did an excellent job with this one and I look forward to more by her in the future! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. Love Overboard is the first book I have read by Shannon Dunlap. Dunlap has created a whimsical cast of matchmakers with a unique story thread. These four retired ladies (aka the "Shippers") live on the cruise ship, creating mischief with the best of intentions. They give off Golden Girl vibes in their wit and interactions. Lacey knows what the Shippers are about and wants nothing to do with it. While she loves the ladies, she is not looking for love. She has trust issues and would rather focus on her job and taking care of her parents. Jon is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Lacey again. As the one who got away, Jon is happy with the Shippers matchmaking attempts. However, Jon is keeping secrets and is on board the ship investigating, and neglects to tell Lacey the details. Right out of the gate you’ve got women in their seventies grabbing walkie talkies and packing up for their next matchmaking mission on an up-and-coming cruise. Cruising and matchmaking isn’t just a hobby for these women…it’s become a way of life. This time, they have their sights set on Lacey Anderson, the cruise ship’s hostess. This book was like a mash up of The Golden Girls and The Love Boat. All the feels of a vintage sitcom with non-stop banter, laughter, quirky characters, and adventures. Completely clean and closed door with elements of faith woven throughout. The perfect book to add to your Summer TBR. Coined “The Shippers” – Emily, Geraldine, Daisy, and Althea (how could you not fall in love with a group of older women with those names?) had originally planned on setting Lacey up with the ship’s pastry chef. Unexpectedly, Lacey’s ex-boyfriend, Jonathan King, has joined the crew as the new cruise director. Not at all concerned as to why Lacey and Jon had broken up, these Shippers can see and feel the chemistry still left between the two and set their plan in motion. Let me say, these women know how to put the FORCE in forced proximity. HAHA Jon is on board undercover with an FBI agent trying to crack the case of drug smuggling that’s been happening within this specific cruise line. What fun when The Shippers catch wind of that bit of info – never at all hesitating to insert themselves into any situation they see as needing a bit of assistance.
