This 1 star should be a zero. Not due to the game itself but due to the poor customer service my family and I received this holiday season. The item originally arrived in an empty box, that was wrapped in what looked like its original cellophane. This was a gift for my son for Christmas, when it arrived and looked brand new I wrapped it for him to put under the Christmas tree. He opened it Christmas morning to find the box empty, still believing in Santa his face was so disappointed and confused. I immediately tried to come up with an excuse and said maybe the elves got confused and will probably bring him a replacement. Or maybe they hid it throughout the house. I can't for the life of my forget the disappointment on his face Christmas morning. This item was wrapped in plastic. There's no reason I would have even thought to open the box before wrapping in gift wrap. I reached out to target support later on that day when he was busy playing with his other toys, and was originally told "there's no way we can prove the game was not in the box" The audacity of hearing that statement alone was enough to highly upset me. After reiterating that this was a child's gift on Christmas morning, the team member, reluctantly issued a replacement order and FIVE DOLLAR target credit. I pleaded with the staff member to rush the item, and they said there was nothing they can do. I have just received notice that this item will now be delayed again. My son is extremely disappointed and I am saddened by the lack of customer service. Note to self and note to anyone who reads these reviews, open the plastic wrapped games before gifting to anyone, the retailer may not have quality checked the item before sending to you. Don't let the same thing happen to you.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I heard a lot of different opinions about this game, but I still have it a try. When I tell you how much I love this game, I MEAN IT! The story line is great, the graphic design is adorable but also high tech, and DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CHARACTERS!! You really start to gain an emotional attachment to them quickly!❤️ The script is so funny and enjoyable, it gives you a good laugh! Now I know it may not be for everyone, but to anyone who enjoys a nice, puzzling, and hilarious scripted game, Mario & Luigi Brothership is the game for you!!!

Not the best this franchise has done
I’ve played a lot of Mario games over the years and this has probably been my least favorite. I thought it was odd they named it brothership and made it one player- but I knew that going in. My main problem is that the game functionally works like you’re two players (with both characters) but it’s not. I think this should have been a game you can play either way as these features would have been a lot more fun in a co-op. There’s not really a point in one player mode, you are working cooperatively with your other controller. The actual gameplay is decent but not my favorite. Graphics are good. My 6 & 9 year old were able to play through but they thought my 3 star review of this one was fair as it’s one of their least-enjoyed games. Overall I think the price point should be lower on this one.

Not my Mario
Not your traditional Mario game…Odd concept overall…way too much character dialogue and not enough action in gameplay. Super long tutorial as well. Cool graphic design though

A Spectacular Revival
After years of no new installments to the series this new one was a breathe of fresh air, some things took a bit to get used to but the story, music, and scenery were so amazing!!! Almost done with the game also but as a long time fan of this series it's great to have this new experience and IGNs review on it was sooo wrong in my opinion definitely give this game more of a try like I did after I was unsure at first cause you're in for a treat!!

Brothership
So much talking in this game.. The fight scenes are ridiculous and the same every single time. It is so frustrating you just have to stop because it's a waste of time.

Eh, not good.
Way too complex for my 8 year old. Wasn’t very entertaining either.

NOT TWO PLAYER!!
What a misleading game. Bought this for my son for Christmas assuming it was two player since it was Mario AND Luigi. Let alone the title has BROTHERSHIP in the name. Nope. You apparently control Mario and Luigi with ONE controller with NO OPTION FOR 2 PLAYER. Avoid this 60 dollar purchase

R u serious with a 1 player titled "Brothership?"
Removed two stars because for a game that is titled brothership, it should be a 2 player. This has bewildered me.

Fun Gameplay
Great game, haven’t finished it yet but the story seems interesting and the characters are appealing. There are some things that could’ve been done better, but for the first game in YEARS, it’s really well done.

Deeply disappointing
As others stated, the loading times are too long. Long enough it makes you not want to continue at times. Additionally, this would have been more fun had it allowed two players. We need more Mario bros multiplayer games. I found this to be boring and it feels like outdated technology. Wish I wouldn’t have wasted money on it.

Worth the 9 year wait
I grew up playing the Mario and Luigi RPG series, and this game is truly a wonderful addition to it! My only complaint is the loading times before and after battles. Other than that, I’m happy to see my favorite heroes back on a new adventure!

Missing Preorder Bonus
Didn’t receive my pre order bonus, called Target and told me what I’m talking about doesn’t exist or never did. If you’re going to promote something why not follow up with it? Was excited to receive my pre order bonus but was met with disappointment.

Thought it would be cool....
Nintendo really missed the boat on this one. Everything about this game screams that it is a two player game, It could have been a really cool co-op game but No, it’s a single player game. It doesn’t allow you to choose your character and Luigi is essentially a tag along character. Really disappointing.

Classic RPG in 2024
The days of Mario and Luigi superstar sage, partners in time, Bowser's inside story are long gone, but luckily the brothers are back in action. This is not a short adventure akin to Paper Mario, another great RPG series, so you are looking at approximately $1.5-$2 per hour of content.
