Not sure why the other reviews of this product are so great. I've had an old squeeze-style tube of this on-hand for a few years, as I only use it occasionally after swimming or when my hair dries out in the dead of winter. After finally finishing it up, I replaced it with a new bottle. Apparently they have updated the product with a new, hard-sided container and new formulation. It is god-awful. Instead of making my naturally wavy locks lustrous and full, as the previous formulation did, this one leaves my hair limp and stringy. My old go-to, 3-Minute Miracle, does a better job - at a fraction of the price. Just trying to get through the bottle so I don't throw $13 down the drain is going to be a gargantuan effort. Don't waste your money on this new formulation.
I purchased this because I had used Biolage products years ago (before switching to Bain de Terre and Redken) and been satisfied. This conditioner is leaving my hair dry, increasingly coarse and almost brittle. A new formula? Cost-cutting manufacturer practices? Regardless of the cause, this is the last Biolage product I will ever buy (and imagine that I bought a *gallon* of this stuff).

I had been using Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm for the last 25 years and had never once tried another product. I would buy it but the gallon from a hairstylist friend. It was wonderful on my hair, it left it silky, soft and it made it so easy to get the tangles out. I tried the new Hydrasource and I hate it. It is horrible. There is a huge difference in the products consistency. The balm was so think and the new Hydrasource is watered down. It's as good as not using a conditioner. I have been trying other pricey products like Wella, Pro Design Eufora and another matrix product and having no luck find something matching the old conditioning balm. Also the hydrating shampoo went from clear to a white creamy product and that is not the same either. I can always use another shampoo; the conditioning balm was like gold to me. Please bring it back.

We are sorry that you are not happy with the Matrix Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo and Conditioning Balm. These products have only been repackaged. However, if you feel that you need a thicker and heavier product we would recommend using the Ultra Hydrasource Shampoo and Conditioner.
