[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We liked the appearance and design of the bunk bed; however, we were surprised to discover that the slats are spaced more than 9 inches apart. Slat spacing this wide will void most mattress warranties because it does not provide adequate support, causing mattresses to sag prematurely and deteriorate more quickly. Because of this concern, we contacted Max & Lily for clarification. Unfortunately, our initial inquiry went unanswered. After sending a follow-up email, we were told that our concern would be forwarded to another department, but again, we received no response. It was only after a third follow-up that we finally received an answer stating: "Despite the wider spacing, the bed is still compatible with a wide range of mattress types, specifically foam, hybrid, latex, or spring mattresses. " At the same time, we were provided a link to purchase replacement slats with 2. 5-inch spacing for an additional $240, on top of the approximately $500 we had already spent on the bunk bed. This raises an obvious question: if the 9-inch slat spacing is truly adequate and compatible with these mattress types, why is there a need to purchase a separate slat system with 2. 5-inch spacing? The reality is that 9-inch spacing does not provide sufficient support for most mattresses. To confirm our concerns, we consulted a mattress specialist who visited our home and advised us that using our mattresses on slats spaced 9 inches apart will certainly void the mattress warranty and significantly reduce the lifespan and performance of the mattresses. Overall, we are disappointed with Max & Lily's customer service. Not only did it take multiple follow-ups to receive a response, but the information provided was also inconsistent and failed to adequately address our concerns. Rather than offering a clear and honest explanation, it felt as though the company was simply providing a response to avoid continued inquiries. By the time we finally received a reply, the bunk bed had already been fully assembled. Disassembling and returning it would now be extremely difficult and time-consuming. As a result, we are left trying to find a budget-friendly solution to address the slat spacing issue for both full-size beds included in the bunk bed, which is an unexpected expense and inconvenience that we should not have to bear.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Turned out great! It was shockingly "easy" (as easy as you can expect for a huge complex bed) to put together. My kids are loving it! The only issue I had was two of the wood panels had pretty big scratches/dents in them.

Both my girls love their new beds. Easy to put together with two people. Love the color and sturdiness of it. Highly recommend.

I ordered this bunk bed set to accommodate my teenage son’s bedroom and give them more floor space . I ordered because of the higher resting weight limit . I’ve had the beds for almost a year now and a couple of things I found was the wood is very soft and gets marked up very easily, I’ve also noticed that although it says it’s good for a resting weight of 400 , it doesn’t realistically seem like it would hold up well long term to higher weights . I read some comments that people reinforced the structure so I may try that

We decided to get them bigger beds and went with the same company. We absolutely love the beds. They are durable, strong, and worth every penny. They were easy to build and assemble.

Putting it together came with a few frustrations, but it's similar to ikea construction, so that wasn't surprising. It's lightweight but still feels sturdy. It's soft pine, so it already has a few minor scratches (and bite marks from my toddler). The ladder is removable, which is a plus for us so we can take it off during the day to prevent my youngest from climbing to the top bunk. We have an 8" mattress, so it's too tall for an adult to sit upright comfortably, but I've slept on the bottom bed with my son and it's plenty strong. I can see this bed lasting through my kids' childhood, so for the price, I think you can't beat the value.

The only issue I had was receiving the bed in two shipments, a couple of weeks apart. We didn't know this so we opened one box only to realize that it wasn't all the pieces and we had already took out the old bed. That was kind of annoying. Also, the tracking was not accurate. It came a lot later than it said.
