Melissa & Doug Spray & Shine Car Wash Color-Changing Water Toy Play Set: Develops Gross & Fine Motor Skills

My 3 year old grandson is a car wash fanatic and I was excited to give this cute toy to him; however, the spray doesn't spray. Nothing in the directions showed how to place it so it would work. Then on further investigation, I saw just one tiny hole. Even if pumping xould drway water up the tube to the sprayer, too little water would come out the one tiny hole to get the csr wet. Very disappointed that the big feature doesn't work. We expected water!!

The colors are bright, the design is creative, and it encourages imaginative play. My 3-year-old loves it, although sometimes it’s a little hard for them to pump the water, and occasionally the tube doesn’t pick up the water right away. Overall, it’s a wonderful toy that combines fun and learning, and I highly recommend it.

I would say somewhat slight educational as far as them learning how to wash a car no safety issues. Just a lot of parts for this toy my kids scattered it all over the place they love it.

Very durable, only downfall is the amount of water it holds at the bottom. Wish it was a place to hold the ice and water separately.

Super cool color-change effect. Keeps him busy and happy for hours. Great for creative play without making a huge mess! I removed one star because the box arrived with noticeable tears that had been taped over in a few areas.

It has all the accessories like a real car wash and even has the little drive up ramp and fluffy cleaners you drive through.-Exactly like a real car wash! You just simply add cold with some ice cubes to make the water extra cold to magically remove the mud on the car. My son Jace l played with this all day after we received it. It comes with a nice sized car as well. I was impressed at how big it was! Great product and great quality!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to love this Melissa & Doug car wash. It is super cute, and my daughter was super excited to play with it. There were a few things that I wish I could change to make it 5 stars. The color-changing aspect of the car wash was exciting for my 3-year-old; however, when it says cold water, it means cold water. The water from my faucet was not quite cold enough, so I had to add ice to it, as the picture shows. This is fine for older kids, but my 3-year-old kept asking me to heat up the water because her little fingers were cold. We love any toy that keeps their attention, and if the water were warm, I think she would have played with this toy all afternoon. The water is stored underneath the car wash, and we did have a spill or two all over the floor after my curious child realized she could open it. But when you’re washing the car it drains underneath so there’s no mess there! Overall, if the color-changing feature switched the use of hot and cold water , so that the mud disappeared with warm water and needed cold water to appear again, it would be a 5-star for us.

And you really do need to put ice cubes in the cold water to make Lightning change color. But overall they really enjoy it. I just have to put a towel down under it. Although , it’s a good activity and too much fun for them. A perfect toy for kids.

My nephew enjoyed adding water over and over again to make the sprayer clean the car. And when he gets bored of cleaning the car he ends up playing with just the car. The water definitely needs to be cold in order for it to work, but the toy has held up well and is safe for kids to use. Easy to take turns, with a little warm water "dirt" comes right back.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited about this toy for my kids, especially because the product description made it sound like the car would change color during the wash, which adds a fun, interactive element. Unfortunately, that never happened. We tried using cold water, warm water, and even followed every tip we could find online – but nothing worked. The car stayed exactly the same color no matter what. While the spray bottle and squeegee are cute and my kids had some fun pretending, the whole point of the toy is that the car should visibly change when wet. Without that, it's just a basic water play set with no wow factor. Would not recommend unless the color-change feature is fixed.
