Free fungus gnats included!
This soil was filled with fungus gnats and smelled strongly of mildew! I opened the bag outside thankfully because as soon as I cut it open several gnats flew out of the bag and as I scooped more and more appeared. They’re all over my house now and I had to get new fungus traps for my pots. It doesn’t hold water great either, within a day the soil feels bone dry. Definitely won’t be using again and wish I’d had an alternative for this time!

We're sorry to see that you were disappointed with the Miracle-Gro Potting Mix. We value your feedback and want to ensure you have the best possible experience with our products. Miracle-Gro Potting Mix is a natural product. While we do not sterilize the soil, it is composted to kill any harmful insects and microbes. However, soils may become infested with insects while in transit, storage or waiting for sale. These insects do not feed upon plants, but lay their eggs in soil that contains organic matter. The larvae usually do not damage plants but, when present in large numbers, may feed on the roots of some plants. A couple good steps you can take to get rid or prevent fungus gnats are: - Let the soil dry out more between each watering. Dry soil helps kill the larvae. It's especially important to drain the saucers of excess water. Anything left after an hour should be poured out. - Apply at least 1/2 inch of sand on top of the soil of potted/container plants. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die. Sand should be left on the container for several weeks until the problem is solved. To help us understand more about your experience and how we can improve, we invite you to contact us at your earliest convenience at 888-295-6902. We're eager to hear from you and find a way to make things right.

Gnat infestation
I work at a school with a greenhouse. I teach students about growing different types of plants from seed and how to take care of them. We had always bought Miracle Grow for its quality, but the past couple of years of buying this product, there has been an unusually high amount of gnats flying around the plants. It is definitely the bags of soil, last year was particularly bad - 3 bags with an infestation of them. I will probably pass on buying this product next year when starting plants inside.

We're concerned to hear about your experience with our Miracle-Gro Potting Mix. We always want our customers to have the best possible results, and we're here to help. Insects generally do not survive the composting and packing processes of the Miracle-Gro Potting Mix. However, it's possible for them to find their way into the bag during shipping or storage. We would like the opportunity to gather some additional information and offer personalized assistance. Please reach out to our Consumer Services team at 888-295-6902, and we'll be happy to help you find a solution.

Soil I choose for healthy outdoor pot plants
I have good success using this potting mix after I grow my seedlings. Seems to help the small plants grow healthy.

Not up to standard
I have always used Miracle gro potting soil so when I was starting a new container garden this year I bought 10 big bags. I found the consistency to be so much different than usual....it didn't look like potting soil. It had so much coconut fiber that has shown to be much less water retaining than usual and my self_watering pots ineffective.

Big Beautiful Plants
I have used Miracle-Gro since I moved into my home in 1985. I use it in all my pots, my raised Garden Beds and absolutely love it. I have big beautiful plants every year.

Disappointing product
I have been using Miracle Gro potting mix for my deck plants for years with great success. The bag I bought this year was nothing like prior purchases. It looked like medium fine mulch with small straw-like clumps. I should have returned it but foolishly used it. Plants are not doing well at all and when the soil dries out in the heat it gets rock hard. Very disappointed and will think twice before another purchase.

Great Mix
I discovered Miracle-Gro Potting Mix through a detailed post on https://seedwith.me/is-miracle-gro-potting-mix-good-for-pothos-a-comprehensive-guide-for-plant-lovers/ while researching the best soil for my pothos. After using it for a few months, I can say it truly lives up to the reputation—lightweight, drains well, and my pothos roots are thriving! I’ve noticed faster growth and healthier leaves compared to generic mixes. Highly recommend it for indoor plant lovers.

Mushroom invasion
This is the first year that I’ve been unhappy with this product! I used it when potting my peppers and flower boxes, as I have done for the past four years. This year I have tons of odd mushrooms growing in each pot. After they die out they leave behind a weird clump of. Anyone else with this problem?

Disappointed ….Different quality
I’ve always used the 2cu. Potting soil. This year it is completely different feeling. My plants are not doing well. My plants in the leftover bag from last year are doing well. The 5 new bags from this year are not. Not very happy. No not happy at all. Expensive ! I enjoy my summer flowers. But I’m frustrated this year.

Weeds in pots
This is the second season of finding seedlings growing in my pots which I’ve been able to identify as sunflowers. Yes I feed birds and have chippies but the growth is only in patio and hanging pots I’ve done with your dirt. I have store bought pots and they’re fine. Your product has definitely gone downhill. This will be my last purchase.

Mix won't hold any water
Have always used Miracle Grow. But this year my plants have to be watered twice a day! The water runs straight through the pots and out the bottom. Whatever has been changed is just awful. Buying other brands from now on.

Poor quality!
I bought 2 bags of this for my outdoor pots, but I am very unhappy with quality of the potting soil. It is full of chunky wood pieces and my plants are not doing well in it at all! Past years the potting soil was much better quality. The promised grow 3x bigger plants are false. I had to give extra nutrients in order for them to thrive. What happened to the quality??

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with the Miracle Gro Potting Mix and appreciate your feedback. The small pieces of bark and twigs in our potting soil are intentional components. However, you shouldn't find large pieces of wood or bark. Most of our soils, especially our potting mixes and garden soils, are made from composted forest products. They contain very little, if any, actual soil. This is by design! Composted forest products offer several benefits: high organic content, reduced compaction, and improved aeration. The coarser material allows air to reach the roots of your plants, promoting better performance over time. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-295-6902 if we can further assist.
