About this item
Highlights
- Power: The Monolith 9X is a 9-channel amplifier comprised of 200 watts per channel into 3 channels, and 100 watts per channel into 6 channels of amplification. This rating is measured with all channels driven across the full power bandwidth of 20Hz to 20kHz into 8-ohm loads. Additionally, there is NO current limiting and there is no protection circuitry in the amplifier circuit path. Even if the speakers' impedance drops to a low level, the Monolith is robust enough that the current is never limited.
- Dynamics: High resolution audio delivers the best in music and movie soundtracks. You deserve an amplifier capable of delivering clear and clean audio across a wide dynamic range! With a more than 100dB signal to noise ratio, the Monolith 9X can clearly and accurately articulate the quietest portions, the loudest portions, and everything in between.
- Class AB: More efficient than Class A, many high end, audiophile grade amplifiers utilize a Class AB design.
- Made in U.S.A.: The Monolith 9X is designed, engineered, and assembled in the United States of America.
- Two Toroidal Transformers: No, these aren't new villains in the next giant robot movie, these are the source of an amplifier's power. Each amplifier channel gets its own set of transformer windings, and also its own storage capacitor. Essentially, each channel has its own power supply meaning if one channel gets maxed out, the other channels are not affected.

I would definitely recommend. Way better than my marantz mm7055 amp. The only problem I had was with the ground loop. I had to buy a ground loop isolator for the cable. It took me a while to figure it out lol. No humming at all now even at high volume.
Very impressed so far

I now have the HTP-1, 7 channel, and this 9 channel amp. I came from a Denon 6700h and I was skeptical of really being able to tell the difference without being an audiophile. I was very much mistaken and the clarity as well as speaker separation is just night and day. I wish I had upgraded to separates years ago now.

I'd been running a Yamaha Adventage 3080 for a year now and was looking to transition to separates, and after some research I settled on this amp as a start. My Elac unif 2.0 bookies were somewhat anemic in straight / 2 channel mode when playing rock and heavy metal, and as a consequence I would switch to 9 channel to compensate. This amplifier thankfully corrected that. It not only gave my bookies a fuller mid and lower mid base extension, it warmed the sound, warding off hearing fatigue that used to creep in. It's almost like it woke up - I can listen to heavy metal again on two channel mode! I was very skeptical I'd hear a difference coming from a high-end receiver, but so far this amp is a keeper and I'm looking forward to complimenting this with a processor. This is of course my subjective experience, and your mileage may vary. Here's my setup in case it helps: Room size: 5000 square feet open concept living room with no acoustic treatments Equipment: Yamaha 3080 > monoprice xlr cables + KabeDirect rca > Monolith 9x > copper+CCA speaker wires going to 7 speakers. Seating distance: Twelve feet from LCR
So very pleased!

I purchased the monolith 9 channel amplifier a few months back to power my home theater system. I'm using it with an Arcam AV40 and all XLR connections. I have this amplifier driving a set of Focal Aria 948's, the matching Aria center channel and three sets of SVS prime elevation surrounds. Previously I had this setup running through Peachtree and Rotel amplifiers. Installation was easy, other than the sheer weight of the amplifier. But I was immediately impressed and blown away at the control that this amplifier has. The power that it provides is relentless and matches very well with my Focals. I would recommend this amplifier 100%! It is a powerhouse but also warm and delicate. You will not find another amplifier this well made at this price range, or even at a higher price range. Of you are on the fence about this purchase, do some research, read where it is made, and by who and you will find that this is an absolute steal.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to go the separates route for a home theater. I bought this to pair with a Marantz AV7705 as an upgrade to an old Yamaha AVR and three channel amplifier. It sounds incredible and seems to have opened up my Martinlogan Motion 60xt towers, 50xt center and 15 surrounds. I can't wait to add in-ceiling atmos speakers in the future. My son said that the current 5.1 system already sounds like watching movies at the theater even before we add the atmos speakers.

I purchased the Monolith amplifier to use the XLR interconnects on the Monolith HTP1. Other features of interest were fan less cooling and separate power transformers for 3x200watt and 6x100watt channels. Monoprice made it an easy decision offering it in a combo deal. I chose 9 channel version planning evolve my 5.1 setup to 5.x.4 system. I am very happy with construction quality and ecstatic with the sound.

Picked this up in combo with an HTP-1 when they were running a combo sale, and I would say it's great value. I'm admittedly not an audiophile, and primarily listen to movies, not music, so someone else with a more discerning ear might notice minor issues, but to my ear they sound very good, and when listening to movies that I know exactly how they are supposed to sound, these match that. I will vouch they are very quiet - I can put my ear right up to the speakers, and when there's no sound supposed to be playing through those speakers, there's nothing - no hum or background noise. The amplifier itself does make a loud click/clunk when turned on, but so clicks or thumps through the speakers. I can't say I've really pushed mine - it's running the overhead and wide channels, not the main LCR or surrounds - but it's never clipped or distorted, and hasn't even gotten very hot. ATI-built amplifier of this quality at this price point is hard to beat, and very happy with the purchase.

So I have had this amp for a few months now, I will say it performs well and sounds great. However, ever since new, when you turn it on, after the relay kicks in, there is a loud POP that seems to be coming only from the front Atmos height speakers. This is beyond unacceptable for a $2,000. power amp!!! The amp is connected to a Marantz 8802A pre, and the other amps in the system are McIntosh. I have tried turning the power switch off/on in the back, didn't help. Turning it on on first in the system.....then last, and everything in between.....NOTHING matters, unless you disconnect it from the front height speakers, then reconnect them after the amp is on!?!? Being 100 pounds, this is not exactly something you can ship back easily for replacement!!!!

I have 15 speakers: LCR, Surrounds, Surround Backs, front and rear heights, and front and rear ceiling. So, I ordered two of these amps: Bi-amping LCR with the 200w channels while the 12 100w channels feed the rest of the speakers. 1. These units are HEAVY! So, in my case, I don't want to rackmount it. To me, racks are fine if audio gear is to be hidden. But I prefer to see the beauty of my audio gear up front. So I ordered a custom VTI BL404 stand - beautiful! 2. With my 4 ohm rated PSB Synchrony One speakers in my 900 sq ft media room, these units have all the power I can ask for. 3. These units are XLR wired from my Marantz AV8805. It would be nice if the XLR connections were tighter. They're too loose for those who would want to remove the latch. 4. No metering. Perhaps the next version may offer metering. But with Monoprice, performance with simplicity keep the prices low. I prefer the price - performance value over metering.
