The guitar offers excellent value for its price, making it an ideal choice for beginners or those looking to experiment with modifications. It boasts a visually appealing design and decent playability, though some guests noted the need for setup adjustments, such as fretwork and string tree replacements, to enhance performance. Despite minor quality control issues, it remains a popular choice for its affordability and potential for upgrades.

A few finish issues but you have to look hard to find any. The volume and tone pots are not good at all. Easy and cheap to replace with better ones. The guitar setup was just about as perfect as it gets. Overall an excellent guitar for the price.

Nice finish. Did require fret level and neck shim to make playing less painful but fret ends real good with no sharp edges. Sounds nice. Neck is a bit on the thick side , meaty.. for the money very nice guitar and does look very nice.
Good deal guitar.

Nice for the price. I have had a tele a route 66 and 2 other strats. So far this black one is best yet. Others all had something little wrong. This one almost perfect. 1 low spot in body you can only see if you really look hard. Great deal for $80 on sale.
Nice guitar but cheap parts, neck joint screw broke in the neck and ruined it

It is a nice looking guitar that was set up okay as received. All electronics were working as well. However, one of the neck joint screws broke as I was removing the neck which ruined the guitar for me because it is a tough job requiring some specialty tools. The worst part is that I cannot even remove the neck from the body now because of how the screw broke. Unlucky I guess!
Great deal on guitar

This guitar was flawless with the exception of rough fret ends and needed a bit of fret work leveling. What could I expect for the price.
Great looks, comfortable to play, a great place to start playing guitar.

I love this guitar. It looks stunning in all black, and it's comfortable to hold and comfortable to play. It sounds really good too. I'm a beginner, just learning how to play the electric guitar, so this is an excellent, low-cost way to get into it. So far, it's been fun learning to play on this Cali Classic. For the price, it doesn't seem like you can really go wrong with this thing.
Best bang for your buck.

When on sale, this is the best bang for your buck you can possibly get. My guitar came with a tiny bit of fret buzz on the 6th string that was corrected by adjusting the truss rod a tiny bit. Great sound, playability and looks. At less than $85 it's a no brainer. At it's full price, well you might as well just save a tiny bit more for a budget Ibanez, Mitchell or Jackson.
Can't beat it with a stick in both hands!

The BEST strat copy under $100. It's better than everything in the 1-200 price range unless you buy a Cali DLX Plus on sale. As good as or better than a Squier Affinity. Check out the Indio by Monoprice (but really any electric guitar) page on faceboob!

When I first got it the package was a little bit damaged and unwrapping the video from the pick guard and noticed that it was a little damaged with scratch marks. Other than the negative let’s talk about the positive, first of all it comes with a guitar case that feels pretty cheap the inside is plastic with about 1/2 inches of cushion, it comes with a side handle and straps to hold or wear as a backpack. It also come with two tools,a cord for the amp and a bar/tremolo (whammy bar). It’s nice and lightweight but also not to heavy (if you have long fingers like I do you will like how accessible the frets are. This is just a review of the items but not the product since I am a beginner but overall it is pretty good

I have now bought three of these and they are an amazing value. Straight necks, excellent action and good intonation. I have some very valuable guitars in my collection and originally bought these guitars as "beaters" for practice and travel.
Out of the box this is a great guitar and after easing some sharp edges and a setup, it plays like a million.

Write your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long. Consider whether you wgreat guitar for price plays good and does have a beefy tone to the pickups just like it reads on the listings switched out the tuners though everything else was fantastic on this guitar it came pretty well setup the high e string was kind of high on the setup but i think it has to be that way for this kind of guitar to play and sound great still excellent for price cant beat it in my opinion ould recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.
Hope the first one purchased is in new condition.

First guitar damaged, returned. Second guitar returned, took to long to replace bought a different one. Still has not been resolved, or refund money to Affirm account, so I can be refunded. Have to say pretty poor service. Too slow in resolving the problem.
Solid budget player

This is my 2nd monoprice guitar. For a budget guitar this gives you a lot for less. Nicely finished and well packaged. Tuned right up and plays well right out of the box. For the price you can't beat it.

It looks good. Like any guitar at this price you can upgrade all kinds of things (which is why I bought it) and make it even better. The body is a rich black color and the neck is a nice wood with a dark rosewood. The hardware is the weakest part (still good and playable, but probably should be replaced). I am enjoying my purchase!
Poor quality - probably a return

This may be an older model and is probably a return. Fretboard looks better than other current Monoprice guitars. It is actual natural wood, but probably Indian laurel. Rosewood is usually darker and looks different. This guitar was very poor quality and has to be fixed before it can be played. First, it came without paper protection for the strings, which is an indication that it may be a return. Second, high E tuner was defective. I was replacing tuners, so it did not matter. Third, neck screws were attached under a slight angle and the entire neck was also under an angle. I had to remove it, plug the holes, drill new ones and reattach the neck. Tremolo cavity is not standard and accepts only cheap Chinese tremolos with a very thin block. It has to be routed to accept Squire or Fender- type. I am still working on it and it is a lot of work. Would not have bought it had I known about the tremolo cavity issue.

What you see (in my case) was a black Stratocaster knock-off and what I got was black Stratocaster knock. The quality is decent (downright great for the price). but of course, that means although the basic guitar is well mased the hardware and pickups are not of stellar quality. If you expected anything else you must be crazy. The guitar arrived in good shape ... I put on new strings and straightened the neck, then checked the intonation which was good... This is an EXCELLECT beginner's electric guitar. I have been playing for 50 years and I bought this guitar to practice my guitar repair skills. I will pull all the frets and re-radius the neck then refret the guitar and perhaps replace the pickups. If you buy one of these, be sure have a luthier (guitar builder/repair person) set it up for you if you don't know how to do that for yourself. These are great low-end guitars but (like any other guitar) they do need a setup. I am old enough to remember all the bad ( as in almost unplayable) beginner's guitars from back in the day. Now with CNC machining the quality of the low-end guitar market has increased greatly and this guitar is the result. The beginner can now get a decent guitar at a decent price. This is one of the best guitars the low-end market segment has to offer. Rawk On!!!
