Q: Does the unit still draw power form the USB after car is shut-off

submitted by Norm - 10 months ago
  • A: Hello, Many thanks for your question about the Motorola MA1 Wireless Car Adapter for Android Auto. The MA1 will continue to draw power for as long as the vehicle provides power to the USB port. We are aware that there are vehicles that continue to provide power to the vehicle USB ports for a period of time after the vehicle is parked with the engine off and locked, and that some vehicles will continue to provide power to the USB ports for any device plugged in irrespective of the engine running or not. If your vehicle does not support shutting down power to the USB ports when parked with the engine off and locked, our recommendation is to unplug the MA1 when you leave the vehicle. When you return to the vehicle you can plug the MA1 back into the USB port and it will start up and connect to your mobile phone within 30-seconds after initial setup. Best Regards, The Motorola Sound Product Team

Makes your android auto experience a lot better since it is wireless! Very rarely does it disconnect. I would say it works great and was worth it.

Currently is the best wireless AA adapter on the market.

I've been through a few other wireless AA adapters on the market both more expensive and some less expensive. I've faced weird issues with each that this one (so far) in my few weeks of ownership has not done. It pairs through Wi-Fi and only uses bluetooth as the initial handshake creating a much more reliable connection than USB-C. It connects in less than 30 seconds every time without fail, has no issues with audio, or visuals. No noticable latency compared to wired either. It also brings a much cleaner experience as all your wires can be tucked away in the dashboard, or in your hiding spot of choice. It comes with a double-sided sticky tape mounting plate if you want to keep it tidy. Very easy setup, just connect to it initally with bluetooth and you're off to the races for the rest of ownership.

Surprisingly, my infotainment system actually seems to works better with this! Seems like I'm able to stream music a bit better, although my system is a bit older; a 2017 Hyundai Elantra with an older phone a Samsung S10. I think your equipment does make a difference in performance. As of this review I only had it a couple weeks so hopefully it well continue to perform well later on. The only real downside is the price even on sale I think it's still about $20 too much, but it does what it says.

Took me exact 2 mins from packaging to start using it. This saves lots of time and hassle to plug in and unplug the phone while driving. Make sure to enable wireless AA in settings to start using it and check this setting after upgrade, sometime upgrade switch turn t off. Those who are complaining about batter draining fast, same happens with plug in AA too , only thing it gets charge at same time. Overall This is an Excellent product from Motorola. You will save a lot of money in the long run by not wasting money on buying high quality cables.

I would love this product if it didn't take a while to load, and randomly crashed about 10 minutes into every drive. Also ends up using a lot of battery on the phone if using GPS navigation. Suggest using USB cord instead, which I've gone back to.

Great product that enabled wireless Android Auto if you didn't already, it takes a little bit to get connected after starting my car, not sure if it's the same in all cars, but very convenient if going short distances. But I do think it's a little too expensive to buy.

I own a Samsung S22 and a 2020 Chevy Equinox with Android Auto. I tried several adapters only to have to return them. I spoke to my Chevy dealer, and he recommended this model. IT WORKS! The initial setup (pairing Bluetooth) was slightly challenging, but persistence paid off. When I get into my car, within 10-15 seconds, I have wireless android Auto every time.

I looked at 3 of these and, given that this is the only one officially endorsed by Google, went with this one. You should too. No drop outs and very reliable. By the time you put your seat belt on this thing connects. Suggestion: set up android auto first by wire. then simply pair the Bluetooth and ... thats it!
