Mount Gay Black Barrel Double Cask Blend Rum - 750ml Bottle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We enjoyed trying Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum. It does have a strong alcohol taste and aroma of bourbon/whiskey since it was matured in both casks. After trying it, I prefer more of a spiced rum. Adding lime does give it a nice flavor for my honey who likes it straight. I like it ok with Coke but probably won’t buy again just because of my taste preferences.

Both were smooth and easy to drink although the rum itself left a bit to be desired. It has the slightest bit of heat when neat. Most rums are sweet and neither of us felt Mount Gay Black Barrel was that.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mount Gay Barbados Rum Black Barrel Double Cask Blend is a liquor you savor. When you pop the cork and take a good whiff, you know you’re in for a treat. I poured a bit into a shot glass and drank it straight. Wow, it has a unique rum flavor and goes down smooth. Mount Gaye is 43% alcohol volume, and has a flavor that is robust and bold. It’s a deeply charred bourbon, with notes of gingerbread, lychee and toffee. There is no added sugar, it has a natural sweetness to it. I am going to make eggnog with it this Christmas season and see who notices a difference. No wonder it’s been around for 300 years, it’s better.

Like an amalgam of caramel, vanilla, and with a light citrus and even banana aftertaste. Aroma is seemingly a mix of caramels and citrus with a bit of what I feel is a "burnt rubber" accent. Drinks quite smooth and is way too fun making cocktails with it due to the strong caramel and citrus accents.

Doesn’t burn going down which makes it perfect on the rocks or neat. My boyfriend made a cocktail and really liked it too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Warm with a long finish. Smooth with the bite that you'd expect from a good bourbon. Hints of mixed fruit makes it mix well with a citrus soda or enjoy clean with a bit of ice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On first whiff, I smelled toffee and molasses. On first sip, I tasted toffee, burnt caramel, and a hint of banana. Overall very good (had it initially on the rocks). My favorite, it turns out, is mixing it with some sunkist - that cocktail goes down way too easily ;)

It sits nice on the palate and is probably created to be dranked neat but I also made a cocktail with it and it's still good. Very different from other rums I've tried and that's a good thing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a pretty sweet little rum collection going so I waa excited to add some Barbados rum to our stash. My husband and I tried some neat and compared to some other rums we've had, found it a bit harsh. Quite a bit of burn to it. However, mixed with rum and a lime wedge it made a fine Cuba libre, and also mixed nicely in a mai tai. In my opinion, this is a fine mixing rum but not so well as a sipping rum.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For rum it’s a bit spicy. There’s a lot of cinnamon and “hot” flavors. May be better in cocktails but by itself it is very hard to drink/sip. I was hoping the double cask would improve the flavor but it didn’t.
