Book Synopsis
Mulligan and the All-Paws Golf Tournament is the third book in the Mulligan/Poodlums children's book series. Mulligan, the chili-eating tomcat, lives on Sassafras Lane with his human parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casey, and two poodle puppies, Bogey and Katie. In this story, Mulligan learns from a newspaper article that his former opponent in the dogcatcher election, a burly bulldog named Loophole, is playing in a golf tournament for dogs and cats. When Mulligan is asked by a sports reporter if he will be playing against Loophole, Mulligan rises to the challenge to go against his rival, even though he has never played golf before, because if he wins, he will donate the prize money to the Second Chance Animal Shelter. Mulligan is worried that Loophole is bigger and stronger and can hit the ball a lot farther. But his golf instructor tells him, "In life and in golf, bigger and stronger are not always the most important things. Slow and smooth is often better." The golf tournament proves to be full of excitement and challenges, but in the end, Mulligan prevails and presents a check to the animal shelter.
