My kids really enjoyed putting together this shark. We took the kit with us to our camper at the lake. It was rainy so we stayed inside. The pieces connect as such so the shark looks like it swimming when placed over the base. Good piece to display. We did end up leaving it on top of the microwave before we left so i didnt get a finished picture. My husband said that it will look cool in the basement near our fish tanks. I will update w more pictures next week when go back to the camper.

This is really cool. My 10 year old loves sharks and was super excited to put this together. It was not hard for them and took about a half an hour. They didn’t need any help from me. Once assembled, the base plugs in with a usb and it makes the shark wiggle, like it’s swimming! There are also lights, and you can choose the color. It’s very cool, and would make a great gift.

Finicky and fragile

This National Geographic Motorized Shark Model was a bit tricky. One of the more frustration aspects is being asked to build on the metal hooks that make up the motorization. The wood is fragile, made from balsa most likely, and having to put a lot of force into making the pieces fully fit together and while having to do so while said pieces are suspended from tiny metal hooks just makes it a situation where you could easily break something. All-in-all this took about an hour and a half to put together and we managed not to break anything, but it wasn't easy. It seems as though building the model separately and then attaching it to the motor hooks would be much easier. It lights up different colors and the motor gives a semi-realistic looking movement to the shark, but very finicky overall. Unless you have experience with model building, you might want to pass on this one.

It’s a fun activity for the kids to build a great white shark model. It’s only 45 pieces and it doesn’t take long to put together. It comes with usb A charger. There is no need for batteries for the motorized part.

My daughter was so excited to put this shark model together. The package came quickly and the way the pieces were put for shipping, was great. We've had parts before for models and the labels were not clear, or some were missing. No missing piece here and the instructions were so clear. My daughter and I were able to put this together easily and we had fun too. The finished product moves so life like. The model lights up too and it really gives the feel of the shark in the water. We'll be looking for other models like this!

My 12 year old, who is an avid model maker, was very excited to put this motorized shark together. However, while assembling the jaw (the first step in the build) a very important piece, that should eventually support the shark on the stand, broke. He was being careful, but this particular piece is very small and the amount of pressure needed to put it in its place was more than it could take. Overall, the pieces did fit together, but not always very easily. Fun, but also a little frustrating.

My 8-year-old daughter and I are having an incredible time building this shark model together. She is genuinely curious about sharks and their lives, and this toy offers a wealth of information that makes it easy to understand their role in the food chain and their anatomy. While it can be a bit challenging to assemble, the reward of watching her learn and engage with the material makes it absolutely worth it!

While it wasn’t as fascinating as some of the other ones we live close to the ocean so learning about sharks is a fun thing to do for our kids. This kit was easy to follow and put together, I hope to find more ocean animals that are like this!

Very cool, but make sure you have plenty of time and patience to work on this! There are a lot of small wooden pieces to be put together for this shark model. It is pretty cool though if your child is into sharks!

Decent project for a child to do. The pieces can be a little difficult to get lined up exactly as needed and pushed all the way together. The directions were easy to follow and the pieces came out easily. The motion and lights are nice once everything is put together. Getting things lined up to stay on the posts on the motorized stand can be a little difficult. This could be done by a slightly younger child, but it would require some adult help.

The shark puzzle is very engaging. Both my daughters enjoyed putting it together, but they needed some help. This is a great puzzle for kids. It comes with 45 pieces. Once assembled, the motorized base animates the shark, simulating a swimming motion. It also has eight light settings and a guide.

Super cool project for kids and adults. Easy to follow directions and was simple to find all of the parts in the box. It has everything you need to complete the project, and didn’t have too much extra material leftover to throw away. My 13 year old enjoyed this!

When unpacking the box everything comes out neatly organized in a tray and the instruction booklet was right on top of all the supplies. I like that this set is for ages 12 and up so my teen can enjoy a challenge. Really cool that it's a shark and that it is motorized!

The National Geographic Shark Model was a big hit! My eight-year-old and her friend were able to complete the build with minimal help from an adult. The instructions were clear, the pieces were well-made, and everything fit together nicely. It took about 45 minutes to finish, making it the perfect rainy day project. The kids had a blast putting it together and were so proud of the finished shark. Fun, educational, and just the right level of challenge. I highly recommend for young builders!

My daughter had so much fun putting this together. She loves sharks so she was excited for this activity. She’s 13 and had it put together in less than an hour. Once built and on the stand you can turn it on and it moves like a shark would in water. It even opens and closes its mouth. It can be set to have a single color light on or to switch through all of the colors. Looks very cool at night and leaves interesting shadows on the wall as it moves.

I received this product in return for my honest review. There are a lot of pieces and we haven’t yet been able to fully assemble it. It does seem a little complex so it would be better for an older kid or teen to do.

This motorized shark model was so neat for my 8 year old. She constructed it completely by herself with no help. The instructions were easy to follow. The wood pieces are fragile and we did have a piece break. It is also all wood in color not grey as the box depicts. So cool to have it move and the lighting looks great too. It does not make sound.

This shark model is a fun rainy day activity for the kids to put together. It has all the wooden pieces that need to get popped out of the wood. This might require some help depending on the age of the child since I feel like it would be easy to snap a piece and break it. There are pretty straightforward instructions to put together this model. I like that it moves and has lights which makes it even more interesting.
