Nature Valley Dipped Salted Caramel Granola - 11oz

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have my favorite granola, so getting this was a bit out of my comfort zone. I was worried about an overwhelming caramel or salt (salted caramel) flavor, and that I wouldn’t like it. Full honesty, I really liked it. There is maybe a slight hint of caramel and hardly any salt flavoring, so it basically tastes like a slightly sweetened granola. For some, the lack of strong flavor might be a drawback, it for me it’s a positive. Granola should taste like granola, and added flavors should be faint. Overall this is a good granola and I’m happy it has protein in it. The packaging is nice and I like seeing the green in my pantry when looking for it, so it easily stands out. For the price, not bad!

I love that they also have protein which helps any petite girly trying to find variety in maintenance or recomp! You can find these with the rest of the granola products. Price is great too! I ended up mixing these into my trail mix packages as an everyday snack.

It wasn't intolerable, but it was not my personal preference and I probably wouldn't buy it again, or at least not in the salted caramel flavor. Details: This was not the granola texture that I'm used to. I did not appreciate how hard the pieces were. Instead of that toasted crunchy texture you get with most granolas, this was more of a hard crunch like you would get from a hard candy. Unfortunately, my sensitive teeth do not appreciate that at all. I was not the only one in my house to try this and wonder why it's so sweet either. I don't know if extra sweetness was added to mask the added protein or what else, but it just threw everything off. I'm not even sure I get a hint of a caramel-like flavor from this. If I do, it takes some imagination. On value, it's not bad. This is a decent sized bag/portion for the price. If it was something my family liked, it would probably become a staple in our home. *The aftertaste is currently very strong too. I am autistic and this could be just because of my currently heightened senses, but I thought I should mention it, at least.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually go for the Nature Valley Protein Oats & Honey granola to top off my cream of wheat or oatmeal, but I recently tried the Dipped Salted Caramel version—and I’m glad I did! The flavor is amazing. The mix of salted caramel with the oats and honey gives it a sweet and slightly salty balance that really elevates my breakfast. It has less protein than the Oats & Honey variety, but also less carbs, which works out depending on what I’m in the mood for. One thing I did notice is the use of dextrose along with other sweeteners like honey and molasses. I was a little surprised they'd include that, but it doesn’t take away from the overall great taste. Lately, I’ve been mixing the two varieties together, and it’s the perfect combo—more protein, great flavor, and a satisfying crunch. I’ll definitely keep both on hand going forward!

I was really excited to get these for free in exchange for my honest opinion because I wanted to put them in my oatmeal but after tasting them alone I eat them as snacks! The packaging is appealing and enticing and feels like recycled material. For the amount you get the price isn't bad either. I also love the fact that these are high in protein and contains a good source of vitamins.

While not a high protein food, it is a nice addition using the 1oz serving to sprinkle on my daily breakfast. It adds just the right amount of sweetness to make my breakfast more of a treat (which I do very much appreciate). A 1 oz. serving is 120 calories, 4 grams of fat, and 5 grams of protein. Lots of added sugars, 9 grams per 1 ounce, so it is definitely more of a treat than a health food.

However, the coating kind of tastes like a protein drink, which I'm not a fan of. I do like the higher protein content as opposed to some other granolas. You can barely taste the salted caramel, though. It's kind of an artificial type taste.
