"An excellent read, full of action and suspense. The segments with sniping action were well-researched and detail-driven. As a former Marine sniper, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this!"--Sgt. Michael Fay

Captivating

Never Miss by Melissa Koslin is a modern-day fiction thriller that might be personal considering the recent Covid outbreak. However it is a keep you on the edge of your seat modern day fiction. Kandace was raised in a sniper family. We will never truly understand her background, however it is extremely intriguing. She is connected with Lyndon and quickly becomes attached to him, most unlikely for her character. Lyndon is an overwhelmingly intelligent scientist. His methods and thinking are amazing. Never Miss is an amazing thrilling fiction book. I very much enjoyed the story. It is great to read all of the connections the author makes throughout the story. Readers will definitely be impressed with how the story weaves together. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review which I was happy to do. I highly recommend Never Miss by Melissa Koslin.

Fascinating

4 out of 5 stars

The first line of Never Miss by Melissa Koslin entices the reader into a web of mystery and intrigue. From a complex plotline to the fast-paced race to prevent a lethal virus, this book is full of non-stop action and suspense, making it hard to put down. Kadance is an enigma. She is a former CIA sniper and comes from a family of assassins. Yet, when we initially encounter her, she is saving Lyndon Vaile's life. While she seems devoid of emotion, she possesses an obvious affection for her cat, Mac. Lyndon Vaile is also an enigma. Geeky (cute) scientist who happens to be able to defend himself. Three doctorates before the age of thirty makes him serious, hard to communicate with, and almost too smart for his own good. Both Lyndon and Kadance have trust issues, yet they establish an unlikely alliance. They both possess unique qualities that help strengthen their partnership. Their dialogue is engaging, the story flows smoothly, yet the ending seems a bit abrupt. I enjoyed this story, but it should not be classified as "Christian" fiction as a strong faith element is missing. Also, at times, Lyndon "cursed," which seemed out of context for his character and is not promoted among those who call themselves Christian. Finally, the romantic scenes, while not overly graphic is sure to make a few people blush and are more than what most Christian readers are looking for. My son will find this book fascinating (he is 16), but not sure with these elements that it will be an enjoyable or even appropriate read for him. I would recommend this to those who enjoy romantic suspense books. Fans of Colleen Coble, Lynette Eason, Cara Putnam, Patricia Bradley and the like, will enjoy this one!!! Thank you to Revell for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review but am delighted to be able to do so. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

Fast Paced

Never Miss by Melissa Koslin is a stand-alone suspense novel. Kadance Tolle is a former CIA sniper with exceptional skills. She comes from a family of paid assassins and by saving Lyndon Vaile’s life she risks the threat of them finding her. Someone wants Lyndon dead and his research into the Ebola virus destroyed. Thrust together Kadance and Lyndon race to stop the impending bio-attack at the State of the Union address. This story was very fast-paced with twists and turns everywhere. The only draw-back was all the innuendo between the characters. For a Christian novel there wasn’t a lot of mention of religion or faith. Kadance had a lot of past history to work through and with Lyndon’s help she began that journey. I’d give this story a three-star rating. I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.

Thrilling Suspense!

4 out of 5 stars
Connie Saunders - 4 years ago
What a story! A woman from a family of trained assassins, and a brilliant research scientist studying an Ebola virus, join forces to prevent the release of a deadly virus on an unsuspecting society. The action and suspense begin immediately, when Kadance Tolle saves Lyndon Vaile from an assassin's bullet, and the danger escalates, as they both become targets in this desperate race. Will they be able to find, and stop, the mastermind behind this malicious act? An ex-CIA sniper certainly isn't the usual heroine of a Christian fiction novel, and Kadance appears to be one tough cookie, until author Melissa Koslin teases us with suggestions of her goodness and kindness. A trained assassin, yes, but Kadance is totally devoted to Max, her Maine coon cat, and willing to risk her life to help a relative stranger. Will he return the favor by recognizing her need for redemption? Can Lyndon convince her that grace and forgiveness are available to all of us? The plot of Never Miss could have been taken from current news reports, but Koslin states that it was written well before 2020! It is an exciting novel, laden with danger and intrigue, and the unanswered questions continue until the very end. Readers who enjoy romance will appreciate the chemistry between Kadance and Lyndon, and there is also a light faith element. I recommend it to all who enjoy contemporary Christian suspense! This book was provided courtesy of Revell. These are my own thoughts.

An Absolutely Captivating Story!

"I was in the CIA, Special Activities Center." Kadance Tolle had been trained to hit targets from long distances since she was old enough to position a rifle. Following years of covert operations as a highly trained black ops sniper, her return to normal life had been plagued by a family who stubbornly refused to give her a choice about anything but following orders. No more. Kadance had finally broken free, only to find herself in the line of fire after she instinctively befriends a total stranger in order to save his life. Dr. Lyndon Vaile is so brilliant that he can hardly carry on a normal conversation, but when a gorgeous avenging angel literally knocks him out of harm's way, he forms an odd alliance in order to survive. Whoever is seeking Lyndon's knowledge about the Ebola virus is deadly serious, and while neither Kadance or Lyndon consider personal attraction a good idea, it seeps into their psyche without their permission. The larger question being, can it survive; can they survive. Hundreds of lives are depending on their combination of instinct and intelligence to do just that. Never miss. Reading this book could be likened to drinking several cups of black coffee on an empty stomach, the adrenaline factor is high octane from the very first page until the last. What a unique story line, matched by characters who are as individual as their talents, thus offering readers far more questions than answers until the very end. While a bit foggy on spiritual detail, the power of God's presence in a life is certainly lauded, and encouraged . . making Lyndon and Kadance's cautious steps toward romance all the sweeter. This is an outstanding debut, leaving suspense fans clamoring for more! Note: The thought patterns surrounding physical attraction between these two characters are just that; thought patterns, and while their blunt interruptions might raise an eyebrow, they fit the metamorphosis of their characters. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

SNIPER & SCIENTIST TRYING TO STOP VIRUS

3 out of 5 stars
Connywithay - 4 years ago
“Neither of us can do this alone. I don’t have your knowledge of science, and you don’t know how a terrorist mind works,” Kadance informs Lyndon in Melissa Koslin’s novel, Never Miss. ~ What ~ This three-hundred-and-fifty-two-page paperback is for those who enjoy current-day romantic suspense about trying to stop a dangerous virus from being potentially spread in America. With slang words such as heck and darn, topics of abuse, torture, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending includes a chapter of the writer’s next book, acknowledgments, biography, and advertisements. Set in the United States, former CIA sniper Kadance becomes involved with Lyndon, a smart scientist with a photographic memory, when she saves his life. As they look for the reason for the attempted assassination, not only are they both targeted, but they try to stop the mastermind who wants to emit an Ebola virus at the upcoming State of the Union address. As the two get closer to their goal, they struggle with their paths of loneliness and heartbreak while searching for redemption. ~Why ~ This is a rapid story that zig-zags across America in a race to find who wants to lower worldwide population via releasing a deadly virus. The sharpshooter and geek’s connection is well-tested and tried as they work through their inadequacies and insecurities. I appreciated the scientific input and logical intelligent design discussions regarding a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not like Christian suspense will pass on this story about a trained sniper dealing with her skillset and a shy brainy guy who thinks too much. Others may think some of the scenarios were far-fetched, the traveling times incorrect, and the access to secured areas a bit unbelievable. Kadance’s pet cat was a unique addition to the tale but perhaps a bit unrealistic. ~ Wish ~ Although the story has threads of Christianity and praying, it would be thoughtful to include the eternal plan of salvation. I prefer all pronouns of God capitalized for reverence. ~ Want ~ If you like a romantic read involving two hurt and damaged individuals who want to do all in their power to save others, this is a fast read but you may find it a little over the top in some areas. Thanks to Revell for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

This story has quite a bit of action, right from the beginning, bullets fly, along with sharp knives, and yes, there is murder. Two unlikely people unite to stop a horrific action, by misguided individuals, but how do these two that really don't know each other fit together? I was amazed as the author described Lyndon Vaile's mind, lets just say I can't read and carry on a conversation at the same time, never mind up load pages in my mind! I loved the cat Max, and he does play a part here, along with being a good judge of character. This read also reminds me that a sin is a sin, even if we want to put our man leverage on them. Then there is forgiveness! Will these two brilliant, but broken individuals be able to thwart the evil plans here? You will need to get page turning for answers and surprises. I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
