These two books, along with Vogt's Historic Buildings of the French Quarter, winner of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities Book of the Year Award in 2002, are still the definitive layperson's guides to the distinctive buildings of the Crescent City. An award-winning architect, Vogt was an active preservationist until his death in 2002.
