Molly Schaar Idle is an American children's book illustrator, author and animator. In 2014, she was awarded a Caldecott Honor for her picture book Flora and the Flamingo.

Julie is American. In 2013 she was recognized with the Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award, which was established in 1985 to encourage the work of new picture book authors. In addition to this book, she is the author of If You Want to See a Whale. Alma and How She Got Her Name (Candlewick Press) was her debut picture book as an author-illustrator, and was awarded the 2019 Caldecott Honor. She is also the illustrator of La Princesa and the Pea (written by Susan M.
