Less common side effects include; headache, dizziness, nausea, increased appetite, abdominal pain, cramps, bloating. Opill is a progestin only contraceptive and is the first to be available over the counter.

A: This doesn't prevent sexually transmitted infections (such as HIV/AIDS, syphilis, gonnorhea, chlamydia, herpes, trichomoniasis, HPV a.k.a. genital warts, etc.) so you still need to utilize condoms.

So far so good! I’ve been on them for a month now and I can’t say I’ve had many symptoms. I’m used to having very irregular periods to the point I’d sometimes go months without one. On this the problems kind of swapped instead of not seeing my period for a long time I get it every other week which is incredibly annoying but at least I’m not breaking out gaining weight or becoming incredibly depressed or anxious.

When I first started this I bled for like 2 weeks straight. Once I got over that, my period has been regular and I haven’t noticed any symptoms. I tried a combination pill before and gained weight and was super moody. It is really nice to have this option OTC. Oddly enough I have noticed an increased libido on this too. I’ve been taking this for 7 months now and not pregnant. I recommend it.

I’ve been taking this for about 5 months now and it is the absolute worst form of birth control I have ever taken. I’ve been having my period every other week and it’s been extremely heavy which is not normal for me. It has also been causing extreme hair loss.

Opill is great all when it comes to side effects, but the more frequent bleeding was too much for me. I had double heavy bleeds every month and I just quit Opill after completing 3 full months of it

I was on hormonal birth control about a year ago, but got off because my mood swings were INSANE. I did the whole natural cycles thing for a year, but it turns out my cycle isn’t regular enough for that and I’m not in a spot right now where I want to get pregnant or even risk it. My first bc consultation with my gynecologist was… disappointing. I told her my thoughts/feeling about not wanting to have mood swings or increased anxiety, and I really I didn’t want to gain a whole bunch of weight. I didn’t really feel like she cared much, and just prescribed me what she said she would give “anyone my age”. Needless to say I was too eager to have another consultation and explain why I was off for a year. I knew Opill was over the counter, but was afraid of the side effects. The ease of being able to just get it at the store far outweighed having to pay to go have a doctor just give me another prescription that I could almost guarantee would cause the moods and anxiety again. I decided just to give opill a try. The first week was definitely interesting. I had pretty severe head aches just after taking it, but they went away by the next morning. I had a little nausea/dizziness throughout the day, and kinda just felt off. All of those symptoms were gone by the second week. It’s been almost a month now, and for me it’s been great. I don’t feel any change in mood or anxiety, if anything it’s seeming to suppress it. I’m very grateful we live in a day and age where women can be trusted to purchase bc at their convenience, rather than go through healthcare providers who don’t really seem to care.

I’m so annoyed. I had my period a week ago and I’ve been taking this for almost a month. I’ve spotted for 3 days WITH pain and now my period is back 9 days later. I’ve never had this issue with other birth control and I hate it. It has to get better or I’m stopping this product. I saw good reviews so I thought it would help me too. My period are heavy and hard this was supposed to HELP. Be warned before buying this

In my ten years of using birth control, i've never been so emotional in my life i can control my motions very well and i'm able to recognize when i'm being emotional but when I am on this pill i cannot control it i cannot handle my emotions i can't even call myself down because that's how emotional this pill makes me. If that wasn't bad enough my period went from normal colors to black not dark red pure black like tar my clotting is 10 time worst than it was i'm not even mentioning my cramps if you have awful cramps this pill is the reason i've never had cramps until I got on this pill Also I feel like I have to mention this pill is so so so so so time sensitive, if you do not take it at the same time, every day you will bleed even if you're only like ten minutes off it has DO NOT TAKE THIS BIRTH CONTROL!!!

I didn’t take all 3 months worth because of that, but while taking it, I didn’t get pregnant, so it did what it’s supposed to.

I love that this is available without RX. Only reason I am giving it a 2 is because if you are a woman that reacts to birth control- then this may not be for you. I felt horrible on these pills. Extremely exhausted, cramping, body aches, migraines. The moment I stopped taking them, everything went away.

Got a lot of acne, the side effects are horrible. I would feel nauseous, moody and I my period would take forever. But rn is the third time I get my period for the month of august and they last 6 days.

I actually didn’t have extra bleedings. I missed one day of pill and I still felt the same. No side effects on food or mood, I felt just normal and great. Nothing hormonal, diet felt the same. I think I’ve been using for a month and and a half, worked out for me.
