Less common side effects include; headache, dizziness, nausea, increased appetite, abdominal pain, cramps, bloating. Product Review: Opill OTC Birth Control – 5-Month Update I’ve been using Opill (over-the-counter progestin-only birth control) for the past five months, and my experience has been mostly positive with a few changes worth noting as time has gone on. Months 1–3: The first three months were smooth. I didn’t notice any side effects or symptoms, and my menstrual cycle stayed completely regular. My period arrived on time, lasted its usual length (4 days), and ended when expected. Month 4: This month started off normally — my period came and went as usual. However, about a week after my period ended, I experienced two days of light spotting. It wasn’t painful or heavy, but it was unusual for me, as I hadn’t had mid-cycle spotting before starting Opill. Month 5: This month was more difficult. About 42 hours before my period started, I had severe cramps and bloating. This was surprising because I usually don’t get cramps during my period, let alone before it starts. My period did begin on time, but it lasted 7 days instead of my usual 4. A few days after it ended, I experienced another day of light spotting. Overall Thoughts: While Opill was symptom-free for the first few months, I’ve started to notice more irregularities in months 4 and 5 — mainly mid-cycle spotting, extended periods, and unexpected cramping. These may be part of my body adjusting or just longer-term side effects, but it’s something I’ll be monitoring going forward. It’s worth noting that everyone’s body reacts differently, and progestin-only pills like Opill can cause changes in bleeding patterns over time. I’d recommend this product for those looking for accessible, hormone-based birth control, but with the understanding that menstrual changes are possible, especially after the first few months

Used for 2 months and I would like to say it’s better to get your own prescribed prescription. This mini pills makes you have random spotting and I spotted really bad (like a period )for 2 weeks .and right after just having me regular period too . If you’re single it’s ok . But if you’re active this is really irritating. Combination pills are better since it controls when you have your period . Vs not knowing when you get your period . Iam on sprintec combination pill and the spotting stopped immediately. And now I have controlled periods … not worth the random prolonged spotting .

I didn’t get pregnant which was the only plus. The first few months I was bleeding for 3/4 of each month, it eventually stopped but periods were still a bit irregular. I gained 20 pounds in the span of 6 months with no lifestyle changes besides going on this pill which is why I’ll be going off of it asap, I thought the weight gain would stop but it’s messed with my hormones so much. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone with PCOS or anyone who has dealt with hormonal weight gain

i've only been taking it for one week and my anxiety is worse than its been in 5 years. i constantly feel on edge, my chest is tight, on the verge of tears. it's also incredibly diappointing that the pamphlet doesn't have detailed instructions on how to stop taking it- like how long after unprotected sex. i can't wait to finish this course and never use this product again.

Great for limited side effects. Maybe a little breast tenderness, that was all, however, I am bleeding, before I should be, up to twice a month?! I got this birth control out of convenience, but now I am going to by going back to my Gyno, and getting back on my previous birth control. Full blown periods, when you’re not supposed to be having them at that time, is a deal breaker.

You cannot beat the convenience and peace of mind you get with this product. I have the six month automatic refill and have been using it since it became available and haven't experienced a single side effect (and, it works!). I know birth control is different for everyone but I couldn't be happier that an OTC b.c. pill was finally approved. Being able to take full control of your reproduction is something that probably allows a lot of women to be able to sleep better at night. I am 100% satisfied with Opill.

Not sure if it’s because of the Opill but 6months ago when I started taking it I’ve lost 30 lbs in 5-6 months. Being a healthy 135-140 I am now between 107-112lbs. But the only change that I have made is taking the opill. Since I’ve stopped almost a week now and I’ve noticed my appetite slowly increasing but no weight gain. Still not sure if that’s the whole reason tho but wanted to put this up incase anybody else had the same problem.

Opill is a pretty good pill. Opill is my 9th birth control that I've tried since I was 18 and I'm about to be 24. Opill is the only pill that I can tolerate and side effects go away pretty quickly and is nothing too bad to not handle. I'm about to start pill pack 2 on Sunday, July 20th. I'm pretty impressed with this pill brand. I will definitely continue to update my review every , but month. I don't know about pregnancy prevention with it just yet, but I always take my Opill on time and every day

I decided to try Opill and the plus side is: it worked- no babies. But I found myself CONSTANTLY bleeding, so I decided to stop. I thought the bleeding was the worst part but boy, oh boy, was I wrong… I’ve been off of Opill for 10 days now and the withdrawals have put me into the WORST depressive and emotional state I’ve been in in YEARS. I’m constantly sobbing for no apparent reason, I find myself getting more temperamental and angry over little things. Overall: if I’m not feeling emotionally numb, I feel like a LIVEWIRE and I hate it. I don’t even feel like myself anymore and my anti-anxiety meds don’t even help in the slightest to regulate things. This was just my personal experience. Everyone’s body is going to react differently but personally, I will not be going back to Opill ever again.

This is by far the worst product I have ever taken. As soon as I started taking it, I experienced severe side effects that made it almost impossible for me to go about my daily life – breast pain, sudden weight gain, and terrible skin breakouts. But the worst part was that I still got my period on my original scheduled date despite being on this pill. Don’t waste money!!!! This is absolute trash!!!!!!!!!!!🤮😱🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Awful! I needed this because my regular birth control wasn’t shipped in time. I have never randomly bled so much ever while on the pill. Not just spotting either full on bleeding. Never again.
