Q: How reliable is this brand?

submitted by Ashley - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi, thank you for your question! Opill is just as reliable as any birth control pill that is prescribed by a doctor when taken as directed.

  • A: Not sure what you mean by reliable, but I think it's a very good brand. Switched to this brand 2 months ago and already tell a nice difference. Always take at same time every day, more info on their website. As long as you're being responsible, it's very "reliable"

Life Saver

I've suffered from extremely long and painful periods for 12 years. January 2026 21 days, May 28 days straight I was miserable. I'm currently into my 2nd month and this medication has been a game changer! I had some spotting month 1, mild headaches. So far 10/10 would recommend! I'm 50, didn't want to opt for surgery this medication Works!

Genuinely made my life improve! I would recommend.

I switched to opill after losing my insurance coverage. It was the best accidental decision I’ve ever made! My body feels so much better on this than my old pill and my husband even says that my breasts have started to look more full than before! I feel more like myself and more in control of my emotions on this contraceptive!

Review after 17 months of use

I am in my early 40s. I have been using the opill for 17 months. Here is my review. I take my pill at the same time daily. Sometimes I may take it one or two hits early. But, I have never taken it late or missed a dose. In the beginning I’ve gotten my period every month. And it lasted the same as if I was not on the opill. Just this year, it started to come twice in one month. My cramps would be a little lighter. I did not gain weight. I do get a little bit of acne around my period time. No headaches, no anxiety. My sex drive did not disappear. To be honest, I have weekly “meetings”, several times a week and I have NOT gotten pregnant. The opill works… if you do not want to get pregnant. LOL. Thank you Opill.

Overall great

So I just started using this pill, it’s been a full month. I’ve read a lot of different reviews so I’ll just compare what I’ve noticed. So far I have not noticed any side effects. I did notice a slight bit of breast tenderness but not at all painful just felt it a little if you had pressure. People have said they have noticed a change in their breast size saying they have gone up a whole cup size, I’ve only used it a month and I do feel like my breast may have gotten “bigger” but I would classify it as just more “fuller”. I’ve recently started my first period on the pill and did notice that it was lighter than my usual periods. I haven’t had any time to have any pregnancy scares but I have been late on taking it a few times and I just use protection for a few days. I haven’t noticed that it curves my appetite some reviews said that they are less hungry, I feel I still eat the same amount and I haven’t noticed any weight gain/loss. Overall I’m happy so far with it, I use to take birth control and then my insurance got cut so I haven’t had it in awhile. I just recently heard about the Opill and heard that you didn’t need insurance so of course I jumped on it.

I had a bad response, it wasn't worth continuin

the pills are small and the packets make it easy to keep track of where you're at. no forgetting if you already took it because all the pills are labeled by day per week. but my body's response to the hormones very quickly destroyed my quality of life so I only took it for 6 days. everyone says you should give it 3 months for your body to adjust. but honestly I've been off of it now for 18 days (after only being on for 6) and I still feel unusual fatigue. it gave me a lot of anxiety and tiredness

Great experience

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven’t wanted to try hormonal contraceptives because of some of the common side effects. I have noticed that I’m dryer down there after being on this for a few months but it is overcomeable. Overall I like that this is an OTC option that offers flexibility

Horrible in my experience

I was on Opill for 17 months and I wish I never took it. I thought that after a year my body would have gotten used to it, but it never did. I had periods twice a months for 3-4 months straight which caused a lot of issues. I developed a painful nabothian cyst on my cervix which I still have after 9 months. I had mental issues that came with taking the pill, I couldn't really enjoy anything. I didn't have much pleasure at all during sexual intercourse with my partner, in fact it became pretty painful starting the first month after I took it. I stopped taking the pill 3 months ago and I am starting to feel like myself again, I'm starting to feel again period. This pill made me almost non human, I can't even describe some of the ways I felt while on it and feel now that I stopped. I feel like I can enjoy life again, pleasures and sensations of before I started taking it are finally coming back. It has resulted in so many doctors visits and now I may be getting surgery. It made me dislike my partner, myself, and life in general. Most of the time I was just getting through the days or months, and now it finally feels like I can live again. I am not writing this review to scare anyone, but please if you stop feeling like yourself even just a bit and it doesn't feel like your body is adjusting, stop before it is too late like I didn't do unfortunately. I do not recommend this pill to anybody that had bad hormonal problems as a teenager and has never been on birth control before, go to a doctor first please. Also if you have/had any mental health problems especially related to hormones I would not recommend. There is so much more I could say, but I am trying to be vague, hopefully my experience will help someone else.

Emotional rollercoaster

An absolute nightmare of emotions. Literally just feeling a rage I cannot describe or control. I've never had issues like this before. It was so alarming to not be able to control these insane swings of anger that would come out of nowhere. I do not recommend this product at all. I wasted so much money buying the 6 month supply and only used 1 month. After I stopped taking these my mood improved and I felt like myself again. Do not buy these, I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Switching To Opill After 13 Years of Hormonal BC

I’m 39 years old and decided to switch to a non hormonal birth control pill, and also one I could purchase without an OB. Best thing I’ve done, I’ve been on it over a month and have not yet had a period on it(though that isn’t an issue for me). I feel less moody and don’t get the bloating or hormonal swings of my previous birth control. I did experience slight headaches off and on the first 2 or 3 weeks, but those are normal as your body adjusts and have gone away. Definitely would recommend to any woman who is older but still wanting to stay on the pill.
