A: Our meats are smoked and fully cooked, then sliced and packaged. We use a cellulose casing to give shape to our links and cold cuts during the cooking and smoking process. However, this casing is removed after processing and before product is packaged.

A: Great Question! Please note that nitrate and nitrite are closely related chemically. They are different compounds made from nitrogen and oxygen and are used in curing meats. They have been used to preserve color in packaged, cured meats. A secondary benefit is their ability to prevent the growth of bacteria that causes botulism. Hot dogs that do not contain sodium nitrite as a food additive are considered to be “uncured” by the USDA. We hope this helps.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love a good chili dog, and these franks are the perfect hotdog for that. I cooked them in my air fryer and they were absolutely delicious and juicy! I cooked the hotdogs first, then put them in the bun, added the chili dog ingredients, and put them back in the air fryer. I love that the packaging is resealable since I'm often eating alone and only making two at a time.

The flavor is great, the texture is what you’d expect from a high quality hot dog. This will be our go-to until the kids get tired of hot dogs!

The fit the bun perfect without leaving a ton of bread on the ends. I like that the seal has only five hotdogs with two seals so you don’t have to cook the whole pack. Great for afterschool.

They’re all beef dogs that fit well inside a standard hot dog bun, taste great and the packaging is super easy to open (peel from the corner). The texture is not gristly and each dog is only around 140 calories so you can have one without ruining your “diet”. These are a staple in our household for when we want an easy weeknight dinner - dogs and potatoes, dogs and mac, dogs and chili or just plain hot dogs in a bun!

My outdoor grill was not working so I put these on my small electric indoor grill. I prefer my hotdogs more cooked, so these had a nice browned color. A nice snap when you bite into them, and went perfectly with sauerkraut and mustard. Put baked beans as a side and it made a quick and easy dinner. I trust the Oscar Mayer brand, so expected the quality to be good. I liked that these are all beef as well.
