Hello! The Otter is alive and well! We went away from built in screen protection in the Defender Series case with the iPhone X and newer devices in order to allow the features of the devices themselves to function optimally. The Defender Series XT does not include a belt clip in the box, but instead comes with a voucher code right in the package. Thanks for the feedback on the Defender Series XT Case, we're so glad you and your wife are enjoying the overall design! Although there is enough clearance for you to set your iPhone/Otter combo face up on a flat surface without the camera lenses making contact, you are certainly correct that a direct hit could potentially yield a discouraging outcome.
