A: Thanks for your question! Our Silicone Spoon has a nylon core. The external surface of the item is made from silicone, and food will only come in contact with the silicone part of this item.

Not black, heavy, small bow
I bought this spoon online, because my two local stores did not have it, too replace my old black cooking spoon which may or may not contain harmful plastics. First, this spoon is NOT black; it is gray. It is sturdy, which means it is heavier than I want a cooking spoon to be. And most importantly, the bowl on the spoon holds about half of what my old spoon holds; so it's good for stirring but not for serving.

OXO Silicone Spoon
Love these cooking spoons! Can use on any cookware and won't scratch the surface. The only thing I would call out is that silicone spoons can tend to take on the smell of certain food; however, if that does happen we have never noticed that it then leached into the next food item it was used for.
