Description
For his debut album, Irish violinist Patrick Rafter and pianist Fiachra Garvey have chosen repertoire by Belgian and French composers, including two great violin sonatas - Ravel's famous Violin Sonata No.2 in G, and Lekeu's fabulous, but neglected, Violin Sonata in G major. The great Belgian violinist and composer Ysaye's seldom heard Poeme Elegiaque and Lili Boulanger's Nocturne complete this attractive recital.

Breathtaking - 5 months ago
I've listened to classical music albums over 35 years and have listened to just about every great musician of the 20th and 21st century. This is a breathtaking album - two wonderful artists, whom I hadn't heard of before, playing at a world-class level. Beautiful chamber playing also between them - clearly they aren't just soloists. The violinist plays in a beautiful old fashioned sense - almost like listening to Menuhin crossed with Kreisler. Spellbinding album that I've not stopped listening to - in particular the Lekeu Sonata.
