Description

About the Book

A devastating analysis that reveals how ideology and prejudice have prevailed over the protection of our children. How political power has turned the Church into a scapegoat while ignoring thousands of victims. Sexual violence against minors is a growing plague that affects thousands of children and adolescents every year in Spain. However, the public authorities have chosen to single out the Catholic Church, which accounts for less than 1% of cases, making it a scapegoat that distracts attention from the real problem. The discrimination against the Catholic Church hides a terrifying reality: the silent epidemic of sexual abuse that the state refuses to combat. Through a rigorous analysis of official data, reports and studies, this work demonstrates how the Congress of Deputies and the Ombudsman have committed an unprecedented act of discrimination by investigating only cases linked to the Catholic Church while ignoring the dramatic reality: more than 9,000 minors are victims of sexual abuse every year, the majority in family and educational settings. This fundamental work exposes the arbitrariness of the public authorities, documents the true dimension of the problem and reveals how ideology and prejudice have prevailed over the effective protection of minors. A necessary book that sheds light on one of the most serious issues facing our society.
