Q: Is the mama turtle supposed to have a seal to the batteries? My daughter has had this toy for two weeks and there is rust on the batteries which makes it seem like it's not supposed to be in water.

Cute but Momma turtle wont swim for long.

If you consider this toy to be fun without a moving adult turtle, then do buy this. It’s a cute little aquarium set up. It was fun to hatch the babies and my daughter likes that they hook together to be pulled by the momma. But the momma turtle only worked for one swim. We dried it out and put new batteries in her and she still doesn’t work. So…cute toy but be aware that it may not be mechanical for long.

Cute but basically single use

Cute toy, but unfortunately you can only hatch the turtles once and the mother turtle does not swim very well. Another reviewer suggested embroidery tape for the turtle eggs and that has helped us re-hatch the babies again.

Cute but DRINKS batteries

The eggs hatching is exciting, as is the swimming mom turtle. And it’s cute to be able to latch the babies so they can all swim together. BUT… major design flaw. The point would be to leave the turtles in the tank all the time, but doing so kills the mom’s batteries in a day and she swims no more. Stupid to not have a shutoff timer on the swimming.

Just as other reviews have stated that it stops working after one use. Such a cute idea but nothing is really made very well anymore. Very disappointed!

This was so cute and for $20 i like the concept. However, the babies did not follow the mom like the picture advertised and the just floated in the water. Mommy turtle didn’t really swim even when changing batteries. But it was cute.

Waste

The mommy turtle got wet and then stopped working. We set her out to dry but she no longer works after one use. This seems to be a known problem but what a waste of money!!!!! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!!!!!!

Pets Alive mama surprise turtle

It is a really cute toy my kids love the pets alive mama surprise toys. I had high hopes for this toy but the baby turtles don't stay in the eggs when I empty the container and put them inside the eggs and then fill it up with water. Instead they pop out of the eggs immediately as soon as the water gets poured back into the tank. The mama turtle doesn't really do much at all. I think it's a cute concept and toy and my youngest daughter really loves turtles but I was expecting more from the toy.
