Description

Philips AVENT SCF355/00 Bottle and Baby Food Warmer is a safe and easy way to make mealtime more comfortable for your baby. Once switched on, the warmer gently heats bottles and food within 3 minutes. Its compact size makes it easy to store on a kitchen countertop or bedside table for nighttime feedings. The warmer heats bottles and foods safely and evenly and unlike microwaves, won't cause hotspots, so you can be sure the internal temperature is safe for your baby. All Philips AVENT bottles, toddler cups, and food jars fit in the warmer. The warmer is fast and easy to operate - just plug in and flip the on/off switch on the back of the unit. A neon light lets you know the unit is on and working. An included instruction guide makes it easy to calculate the correct heat-up time. Operation involves adding water and turning the dial. A light blinks to indicate that the contents are properly warmed to a safe temperature. To be sure, always test the internal temperature before giving to babies.

Terrible design

The design of this product is so short sighted. Where to even start. - it's hard to use. There are different modes for a little bottle, big bottle, and food, with tiny indistinguishable icons indicating which is which. The knob doesn't "snap" into which setting you've chosen, so it's hard to tell what mode you're actually in. Then you have to memorize a bunch of times from the manual - eg 3 minutes on little bottle mode for 2 oz, 5 minutes on big bottle mode for 5 oz, etc. If you ever need a babysitter or someone else to use it, prepare to give them a 15 minute instruction or have them read the manual, because they won't just be able to figure it out. I covered mine in stickies with instructions on them. - for something that requires you to keep track of time, why doesn't it have a timer on it? You have to use an external timer, so you need another piece of equipment in order to even use this. - it doesn't automatically shut off. So if you set a bottle to heat, and get distracted by screaming baby or explodey diaper, it will continue on heating and scalding your milk. If you leave it on with no bottle in it accidentally (sleep deprivation will make you forgetful), it will just damage itself. - you need to put in water at the height of the milk in the bottle. If you use Philips Avent bottles, aka the brand of this device, they are too wide to actually see if the water level matches the milk level. The only thing that is positive about the warmer is that it does indeed warm the bottle. But everything else about it is so poorly designed and inconvenient, I can't recommend this one.

Fast heating but can get messy

With my first I didn't have a bottle warmer so with this baby it was a new experience. I love how quickly it heats up and the warming feature in case you need to wait before feeding but want to have a warm bottle waiting. I will note that the water inside can get a funky smell or cloudy (from milk residue I assume). I've been changing it more frequently since I've noticed this. It requires distilled water to avoid scale buildup. We have been using filtered water from our refrigerator but I rinse it out with hot tap water about once a day. Also- the heat creates a small vacuum on our glass Avent bottles and the milk sprays out when you turn the bottle to feed so we've been unscrewing the cap the release the vacuum. Our go to bottle warmer!

Having kiddos after most of our friends, we were fortunate enough to get to try several bottle warmers in person vs. just reading online reviews. And this was the clear winner. It does take a little longer, especially if the water level is low, but the bottle is still a good temp vs the super quick warmers. Those tended to overheat the bottles and the steam was intense. This was perfect. We would throw a bottle into the warmer when our little guy would wake up, change him and chat a little, and by the time we were done the bottle was ready. It's also very compact and doesn't take up a lot of counter space! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This product is great for warming bottles quickly and efficiently. However, it’s more difficult to warm purées in smaller containers. It would also be nice if it had a timer and auto shut off function. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have this bottle warmer bedside and I use in between my breast feedings when I need a break, I’m happy with this product and love how I can adjust the settings to my needs. I also use it for sterilizing nipples and binkys. This is just what’s needed to get prepare a bottle in the fly. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

So when we were pregnant with our fourth I thought something like this was just extra. How wrong I was. I love how quickly it heats up bottles and breastmilk and how easy it is to use! It is also super portable. Our baby was hospitalized for 4 days with rsv and we brought it and used it at the hospital! A.must have baby gift. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
