Book Synopsis
This fully revised and updated second edition of Portland Book of Dates builds on the 20,000-copy success of the first edition, with new content to replace (sadly) closed destinations, keeping it fresh and endlessly useful. Marrying style and substance, Portland and the people who love her now get a curated and creative guidebook of more than 150 outings in and around Portland to inspire romance and adventure. Secret spots, beloved locales, and unexpected destinations offer endless options for date night or a weekend getaway. Finally, a stylish, cheeky, curated guidebook of cool places for Portlanders (and visitors) to go on dates and adventures. These range from one-hour coffee and ice cream dates in Portland's neighborhoods to multiday expeditions to Hood River and Mount St. Helens. In-the-know authors and tastemakers Eden Dawn and Ashod Simonian will reveal where the cool and quirky go, have a bead on the obscure and fascinating, and are motivating enough to prompt even the most dedicated homebody to head out the door. Discover (or rediscover) this essential resource and armchair read for Portland-area couples (and singles with friends) interested in learning about off-the-beaten-path things to do, see, and taste.Review Quotes
A Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Bestseller "We definitely recommend buying the book for yourself--there are so many more places to explore than we could possibly fit here, and the illustrations are gorgeous."
--Portland Mercury "This book is adorable. It is so cool. It's hip, it's trendy, and what I love about it is it's not your average guidebook. The illustrations and the maps . . . make it so entertaining to read."
--X-Ray FM "It may take on greater importance as a historical text, the same way Chuck Palahniuk's city guide Fugitives & Refugees did in 2003--a snapshot of Portland as it was just before it changed forever, again."
--Willamette Week
About the Author
EDEN DAWN is a Guinness World Record holder, an award-winning journalist, a PNBA bestselling author, a veteran stylist for bands and fashion editorials, and a sequin-wearing lady with a microphone. Known as a "Fun Expert," you can often see her performing at storytelling events, emceeing galas, and hosting her own quarterly Fashion in Film series. Together Eden and Ashod first began publishing the Book of Dates series in 2021 as a natural extension of their adventurous, overextended lifestyle, bringing together Eden's passion for words and Ashod's hand-crafted illustrations. They live in a slightly creaky one-hundred-year-old house with their two cats, Daphne and Foxglove, surrounded by plants. ASHOD SIMONIAN is a creative director and cofounder of Imaginary Authors, a niche perfume house, and author of Real Fun, a book of photography and stories documenting his decade spent touring the world in various indie rock bands.Dimensions (Overall): 8.5 Inches (H) x 5.5 Inches (W)
