Focuses on Negative, But Fun Read

Although majority of the book focuses on the negative (and the rhymes are so catchy my toddler repeats them), I think it’s a great book overall. I like it more than the first pout pout book because how the rhyme rolls off your tongue. Fun to read!
I don't like the phrases

My daughter loves this series, but I personally don't like this book. This author does what most children's books do, and that's repeat phrases; however, in this particular one, while the fish is looking for the right class, it gets discouraged by saying negative things about itself such as "I'm not smart enough." I get that it's supposed to be a progression of a story, and eventually the fish says that he is smart enough, but I believe in the power of words and speaking them with intention, and when I say the phrase "I'm not smart enough" 4 or more different times while reading a book, I don't know how my baby absorbs it. I just don't like it. I like to say positive things and have a positive attitude with my kid. I still read this to my kid when she hands it to me, but I skip the sections where the fish recites 4 negative phrases. Overall, I don't recommend this book out of the series.
