Arguably the best EDC
It's hard not to like this camera. Photo and video quality is excellent, especially when paired with any of the Lumix prime lenses. Even the kit lens does a good job, but I'm not a fan that you have to partially telescope the lens to "activate" the lens, which basically means it's not really as small as it looks when at it widest aperture. The lack of an EVF is honestly not a big deal and I never once missed it. Throw a grip on it and call it a day. It's a fun camera to use that just so happens to deliver quality that rivals some cameras that cost quite a bit more. Also, the titanium colorway looks amazing. It's the ultimate 'dad cam' for anyone looking for better photos/videos than your smartphone without going to a full on workhorse type camera.

The titanium colorway is definitely a standout! Your feedback on the kit lens design is appreciated, and we’re glad it’s delivering quality that rivals higher-end cameras. Here’s to capturing more amazing moments!

Size, Design. LUMIX Lab App
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful camera, great size. Image quality immaculate. LUMIX Lab App really makes this camera shine. Would like to see a mechanical shutter in the version 2. Hot shoe would not be bad. Good EVF would be nice. If the EVF is low quality then leave it off.

We’re thrilled to hear that the camera’s size, design, and image quality are hitting the mark for you, and it’s great to know the LUMIX Lab App is helping bring out its full potential in your workflow. Your suggestions for future versions are truly appreciated. Ideas like a mechanical shutter, hot shoe options, and either a high-quality EVF or none at all are exactly the kind of thoughtful feedback that helps guide our next steps. No EVF is a big miss for me
Missing the EVF big time , overall it's a great camera but I'm missing the EVF big time . I have the S5ii so this makes such a good everyday camera for the lumix family .

Wish it had an instruction manual
I am a long time owner of a Lumix micro four thirds camera, so thought I would finally upgrade to a full size. I am over 50 so I value having an actual instruction manual to refer to on how to do something. This does not come with a manual and I have wasted hours trying to figure out how to do certain items on the camera. Yes, you can possibly Google or watch a Youtube video but those too are time consuming to find exactly what you are looking for when I could have gone to an index and immediately found what I wanted to know. Gone are those days and for that I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. Thank goodness many of the icons are the same between my two cameras so the learning curve is not as steep as it might be for someone who has never had a Lumix DSLR camera before.

Hi Tobey! Thank you for your continued trust in Lumix and for sharing your feedback. We understand how helpful a detailed manual can be, especially when upgrading. An advanced digital manual is available on our official FAQ page to help you quickly find detailed guidance. We’re glad the familiar icons have made the transition easier, and your feedback helps us improve the experience for all users.

An absolute joy to use!
I am a retired professional photographer - the S9 is a thoroughly enjoyable and very capable camera to create with. I have used other brands in my career, but the colours, dynamic range and operating system in this camera is superb. The lens options are great - from current offerings to the options of vintage lenses. The LUT library is a fantastic addition; the SOOC jpgs are excellent, along with the Hi- Res photo option. Do I miss the lack of a viewfinder? No. We are all use to using our phones for taking photos, so this is an easy transition. The linking of your phone/pad for instant editing and sharing is well implemented and very reliable and useful. This camera is a real gem!

I should have waited
The camera is a good size and takes nice pictures. Quality is also very good. A little complicated to use due to the many functions. My main complaint is the lens options. They launched it before the 18-40mm was ready, which is a good match to the camera due to the compact size. I feel tricked by Panasonic.

I have done multiple reviews of the Three S9's that I own on YouTube. I have the Midnight Blue, Crimson Red and the Mint Green Colors. Also have the S5II & S5IIX. @randallbrander8157 just search for Panasonic or S9. Last review was with the Mint Green using the Lumix S 26mm f/8.

Lumix S9 + 18-40mm Lens
I had been using Fujifilm gear for many years, but decided to make the change after seeing the S9. This is an amazing camera and I could immediately see an improvement over Fuji especially when shooting at night. I really wasn't expecting much from the 18-40mm f/4.5-6.3 lens so I was blown away at the image quality from this lens. Excellent sharpness and beautiful color rendering. The S9's ibis allows shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds to compensate for the smaller aperture range on the lens. I really hope Panasonic will develop smaller primes at f/2 or 2.8 for the S9 as anything longer than 2 inches in length kinda defeats the purpose of the camera. There are so many features packed in this camera that there is so much more to learn and explore. Highly Recommended

Almost perfect
The camera itself is good but I desperately wished it had a hot shoe so that I could get an external viewfinder at the very least. An integrated viewfinder would’ve been ideal. The camera itself is good. The sensor in a camera of this size is amazing.

This camera is it
This camera has it. My opinion is as a videographer, i've used Sony, Canon, Lumix, Black Magic, and REDs on different productions for almost 15 years. So this is mainly from that view. Lumix has always had the best IBIS, it doesn't warp weird and doesn't track subjects like every other camera brand i've used. It has a natural way of making sure micro jitters are gone, there's still some movement not too much. VLOG is such an amazing LOG format. Detail is so solid in the shadows so it feels so natural to me. The highlight rolloff isn't my favorite, but it's easily fixed in post. They have nailed autofocus in their latest lineup. it's reliable and fast, and i had no problem tracking my kids running around like lunatics. We all used to shy away from Lumix color in video production because it had a weird push in the yellows in the shadows that tended to give people a slight jaundice look. BUT it's gone! praises. Colors are beautiful, i pit it against Canon colors for video and prefer this little camera now. 10 bit 422, c4k when you want it, small with terrific battery life, i don't really use the 6k open gate but good to know it's there. The LUTs are fun, makes shooting a bit more fun because you can load a preview look but still record VLOG if you want then put that same LUT on in your NLE. People need to chill out about the lack of a viewfinder. They are making a bigger deal then they should It always has looked professional to shoot photos with the viewfinder, but times are changing. I use this camera to capture b-roll content from events, B camera to a RED Komodo X for run n gun, family camera for home movies, and webcam for Zoom
