These headphones have been nothing but excellent for me. I've been using them daily for around 6-7 years, and they still sound just as good as they did on day one. I needed to replace the earmuffs after around four years, but otherwise they've held up very well.

I've been using these headphones since 2021 and they've been the best pair I've used so far. Sound quality is great even at a lower volume which is how I prefer to listen. They're very comfortable, longest I've worn them straight was about six hours during college, most of the time I hardly notice that they're there. Cable length is good, both included cables have held up well no damage or deterioration. The issues however, the hinges aren't great, they became very loose almost immediately and can be a little annoying to fight with to put on at first and make using the included carrying bag a requirement since they'll never stay folded without it. Also the stock earpads fell apart within the first year and would make your ears very hot, I replaced them with a genuine sheepskin leather set and have had no complaints past that.

My dad bought these in 2006 and used them constantly for years for his DJ work. I recently found them and have started to use them for my voice acting work and the quality is absolutely like new. Apparently they've stayed the same price too. The only thing I would say isn't great about them is the padding is very flakey, but I'd chalk that up to it's age.

I bought these headphones for the second time. and they broke again in the same place where the joint connects headphones to the frame. Plastic frame makes squeaky noises when moved. Sound quality is very good, with sounds at lower end of the spectrum clearly distinguishable. I have used the first pair for 2 years and the second one for almost 2 years before they broke.

Generally one of the pairs of headphones ever. I absolutely loved the audio quality they provided, but the construction of the headphones leaves much to be desired. Both hinges on my headphones have now given out due to their cheap plastic design, and while i was able to replace one I couldn't reroute the wire correctly due to being unable to re-solder the wire, which has lead to audio flicker/failure in the right ear, and now that the other hinge has broken just from putting on the headphones I am basically forced to buy a new pair of headphones. Annoying and frustrating.

I love the flat response, and how it sounds like I'm in the room rehearsing with the band when listening through these headphones. I love the cable it came with, as the phone cord style looped cable can stretch for me when standing, and is out of the way when sitting. I also love the locking cable system, and the screw on 1/4" adapter. I worry that the proprietary connector may pose an issue in the future if it breaks, because it's so small and fragile looking. So far so good though. These headphones blow some of the $300+ headphones I've tried out of the water. My only gripe is that there weren't any bigger sized ear pads in the box. I have total satellite ears, so they are a little snug in there, so I'll be getting different pads soon. They feel fine on my skin, just are a little small. 11/10.

Very poor quality ear pads and headband decomposed!

No, I'm not canning my review to your standards. These headphones started decomposing after 3 years of light use, and are now completely unusable due to decomposition of materials on ear pads and headband. They leave thin plastic particles on everything, including your ears! AT "repair" services offered to "refurbish" them for more than half the new price. Sorry, but I'll be spending my headphone dollar elsewhere next time!

ear pads are too small and cause lots of pressure on the ears. I just replace the pads today and man, what a difference. They are so much more comfortable to use now.

Nice headphones, but not very durable. A second pair died on me, the same problem as the first: one of the ear pads just goes dead (no sound). No frayed wire or anything, it just stopped working. I thought the first one was a fluke, but that was not the case. Sorry, I can't recommend them.

Left a 4-star review ~20 days ago touting the longevity of my M40's being 4 years with daily use and gentle abuse before they finally snapped (literally). I return with glowing praise for the folks at AudioTechnica's repair shop/Service Center in Ohio! I only asked for the rotator wrist components (the part that broke, which looking at reviews of all of AT's headsets seems to be the #1 common issue) to be replaced when I sent it in. The price of repair was ~1/3rd less than getting an entirely new set (I'll let you calc out the math on that one), and folks! People! My comrades in soundwave appreciation arms! Not only did the team repair what was broken, but they essentially did a full refurb on my sweet sweet M40's, and sent her back to my loving embrace with an extra/new cable and caddy bag! Clean, new headband and earpads! Their comms were quick, clean, and professional and I am going to be insufferable about how happy I am with this experience for weeks to come. G-d help my friends on Discord who have to listen to me. The only thing I can be sad about is having to break in the headband tension all over again, but if that means another four years of crisp, well-isolated, balanced, thrumming tunes and radio broadcast with my first-ever "big boy" headphones, then so be it!

I have had my M40's for approx. four years now (purchased a few months before COVID came into full swing) and used/worn them for extended periods on a daily basis. The left rotator/'wrist' of the earpiece cracked ~4-5 months ago and has now broken after being dropped off of a desk onto carpeted flooring. The crack was strictly from average use/pulling the headset apart to put on/wear over time. The audio output of these has always been clean, balanced, and well-isolated. I will be looking into getting mine repaired if it costs less than replacing them entirely, seeing as the electronics and headband are still perfectly fine and intact. (Granted, the smooth pleather covering has worn away pretty considerably over time, but that's to be expected.)

I use these headphones monitoring my podcast recording, editing it, and Zoom calls. I also use them for listening to podcasts when I'm near my podcast setup so I can enjoy the audio quality because I can't buy the Audio-Technica Bluetooth headphones. They have great audio quality, especially for the price. The cable is really long, so you need to wrap it up, but it allows me to walk across my room to close my blinds or get something without taking them off, which is quite helpful when I'm in a Zoom meeting. Great headphones that I'd definitely suggest.

Had a pair of these m50x for about 10 years now!! Wore them to so many DJ gigs all over the place and love them!! Replaced vinyl padding paddies a couple years ago but now it's time to get a new pair cuz one side of the headphones just stopped working. I mean after 10 years y'all!! Gonna get the exact same babies in white or maybe that turquoise color. I don't leave many reviews but wanted to make sure to thank y'all for continuing to make these. I love the sound quality and they're very comfortable, durable and affordable.

I just got these in today and I upgraded from the m30xs because I had them for 5-6 years and they finally wore out on me and snapped by the ear. I use them for gaming and music purposes most of the time these are the best audio quality I've ever had and I'm hearing small things in both games and music that I hadn't heard until today just test driving them around and the noise cancelation they have is super nice. These also feel way better built than the m30x headphones from the ears to the headband. I payed the extra money for the white set because it matches the setup and even with the slight upcharge I think they have been the best investment to my setup I have made in a minute. The only issue I had was getting the cords to plug in correctly because of them having a locking mechanism and it was user error that I have worked out through a little bit of fiddling. Will update review if any issues arise or if I become even happier as I haven't tested them with an instrument and an amp yet.
