Review Quotes

'If you are the parent or grandparent of a preteen or teen, or if you have any interaction at all with teens or tweens, you need to read this book. It is packed with powerful reminders of how our words, actions, attitudes, and availability (or lack thereof) leave indelible marks on the next generation. I was inspired, convicted, and challenged by Rachel's gentle message of how to guide, encourage, and impact young adults to live with less stress and more joy. I took away many practical applications to immediately implement in our home and parenting.'--Crystal Paine, New York Times bestselling author, podcaster, and founder of MoneySavingMom.com

'Imagine if we gave our children what they crave above all else: our attention and a clear picture of who they really are. In Live Love Now, Rachel Macy Stafford provides us the roadmap to do just that! She offers not just advice, but scripts and mantras for changing our parenting so we see the children in front of us: kids desperate to be seen and heard for who they are. This book is a guide, a practical and accessible manual any parent can follow.'--Jessica Lahey, author of The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed

'In a world where stress and burnout make it so hard for parents and children to meaningfully connect, Live Love Now is a ray of hope. It's a book that will empower readers to adapt to the new realities of parenting and build strong relationships with the young people in their lives where they model what they want to teach them.'--Arianna Huffington, founder & CEO, Thrive Global

'In Live Love Now, Rachel Macy Stafford does what she does best: she lovingly encourages, guides, and challenges us to be better than we've been. Through stories, reflections, and tangible tools rooted in love and solidarity, Rachel helps us find our way through the difficulties of parenting without shaming us in process. Read this book and let its kindness pour over you. Take its lessons and make your world a healthier place. Because of Rachel, I know a better way to love and practice presence is possible.'--Kaitlin B. Curtice, author of Glory Happening and Native: Identity, Belonging and Rediscovering God

'Live Love Now is a gorgeous manual for how to rescue yourself, your family, and your kid from the malaise of modern parenting. You'll tear up as you feel the truth of it and feel relief at having a clear way forward. This is a must-read for all parents.'--Julie Lythcott-Haims, New York Times bestselling author of How to Raise an Adult

'Loving our kids well as they grow up has more to do with who they are than with who we want them to be. While many parenting books counsel us on how we can get our kids to meet our expectations, Rachel Macy Stafford asks us to take a different approach--to see our kids for who they were created to be, lay down our expectations of who we think they need to become, and come alongside them as guides and companions on their unique journeys.'--Amy McCready, founder of PositiveParentingSolutions.com and the author of The "Me, Me, Me" Epidemic: A Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Capable, Grateful Kids in an Over-Entitled World

'Rachel Macy Stafford has an incredible capacity to turn ordinary words into soul-fulfilling inspiration, and Live Love Now is a gift to parents of teens everywhere. Stafford leans in to her own vulnerability to reach her readers right where they are: in the thick of parenting teens through what can only be described as a time of high stress and anxiety. Stafford reminds us that simple changes often yield positive results. Her focus on acceptance, encouragement, and gentle guidance reminds parents to step away from judgment (their own and those of others) and meet their teens where they are in their journey through adolescence. This is a book I will recommend over and over again.'--Katie Hurley, LCSW, author of No More Mean Girls and The Happy Kid Handbook

'Rachel Macy Stafford is unmatched in finding the beauty within the ordinary moments in life. In her newest book, Live Love Now, she not only shares the profound benefit of authentically connecting with our children, but she also provides specific ideas on living into it. If you hope to have an enduring, life-giving relationship with the young people in your life, read this book. You'll be grateful you did--and so will the kids you love.'--John O'Leary, host of the Live Inspired podcast and bestselling author of On Fire

'Through heartfelt and authentic life experiences, Rachel Macy Stafford shows that adults and children can learn and grow together, and that perfection is not required to raise healthy and capable young adults. Live Love Now will help you become a truth-teller, encourager, and guide to children, helping them find meaning and purpose for themselves instead of trying to fit into roles society tries to nudge them into. In this book, Rachel shares inspiring stories, strategies that value your own experiences, and ways to apply new concepts to the shifting challenges of raising and educating children in a high-pressure world.'--Marilyn Price-Mitchell, PhD, developmental psychologist, author of Tomorrow's Change Makers, and founder, Roots of Action

'We all want to raise confident, resilient teens, but in today's world, it isn't easy. This book has answers, offering guidance to help parents be the anchors and touchstones our teens need to make their way through the sometimes-stormy seas of adolescence. I hope every parent keeps a copy on their nightstand.'--Susan Stiffelman, MFT, author of Parenting with Presence and Parenting without Power Struggles

In Live Love Now, Rachel Macy Stafford weaves tools of her trade, as a special education teacher, with the daily rhythms of life and brings them to your living room. The lessons include how to be truth-tellers, encouragers and guides as we learn to listen and collaborate with our people to develop daily plans and life plans that speak to their heart. For me, I am learning how to listen to my daughters, to my spouse and to my own heart. I am catching myself when I go to critique and instead purposely try to see understand their angle or intention. I am taking more pauses. Taking time to really see them. Right now, we have the opportunities to really notice each other. My call to arms is to help launch this book into this world. I want this book to arrive on your doorstep. It will help you find your own truths, to notice your own people, and to begin to live your purpose, together. They are reminders of the importance of connection. How we are “still within reach.” -RMS

Another wonderful book from my friend Rachel Macy Stafford! I am biased because I love absolutely everything that Rachel writes, but truly this is the book that we all need - now more than ever. Our children are the future. They are our legacy. Live Love Now encourages you to be the example that the next generation needs. To nurture the loving connection with your child(ren) that we all crave. To treat your child like they are an actual human being with their own cares, desires, and needs that deserves to be heard (because, spoiler alert, they are!). I love this book so much and I'm telling every person I know who is a parent or works with children in some capacity to grab a copy. Thank you for this gem, Rachel!

I highly recommend this book to any parent. The myriad of stories and suggestions can help especially those with teens and tweens. As someone who is not a parent though, I can tell you that every single person can benefit from this book. The beautiful words have a way of getting inside your heart and changing it. Who can put a price on a paradigm shift that causes you to be kinder yourself and those around you? Please read "Live Love Now" and enjoy your journey!

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Live Love Now by Rachel Macy Stafford.  Her books and blog/social media posts have been guiding me for several years now, and her words are always just what I need as a parent and a human in general.  What a gift it was!  In the sections of this book, she teaches you how to be a Truth Teller, Encourager and Guide for the young people in your life. I have watched over the past year or two as many teens I know have really struggled with the pressures and anxieties that this world has for them.  As a parent of tweens that are rapidly entering that season of life, I knew that the information that Rachel would share would be critical to keeping the lines of communication open with my girls as they tackle the world.  As always, this book did not disappoint.  Just as her posts make so many feel seen and heard, she uses this book to guide you into how to really listen to your kids so that they can feel that you truly hear them as well. She listened to the thoughts and fears of many young adults, and turned it into a guidebook.  Never judgmental, and full of stories of her own learning, you will truly feel her hand in yours, as she often says.   I can't wait to share this book with so many people in my life, as I have all of her other books. I highly recommend it to anyone who has, knows, or works with kids, and even those who don't.  There is much in there for everyone.

An invitation to exhale

“Live Love Now” invites us, in the tag line, to “Relieve the pressure and find real connection with our kids”... And I think it delivers many tools to help us do just that. Rachel shares vulnerable moments in her own life, both as a mother and a former special education teacher, in the spirit of sharing her insights. She shares her experiences, and then offers practical guidance - both her own, and that of subject matter experts - on how we can do better. If you follow her blog, some of these passages will ring familiar. However, the beauty of revisiting her words is that sometimes a message that didn’t hit home the first time hits home the second time, or a message resonates differently when your child is a few years older. Rachel has augmented this book with several series of questions to consider and with input from experts and other authors, as well. Though I’ve been a follower of her blog for several years, I still found myself reading this book with a highlighter in hand. The tone of the book is grace-filled and encouraging, never defeating; it’s very approachable. For example, from the questions on page 128: “How might you be more of an encourager rather than an Enforcer in respect to your kids’ technology use? What might be some benefits of adopting that role?” The whole book feels like an invitation to exhale... and to invite our kids to exhale along with us.

Parents - Reading this book is the greatest gift you can give your child

I hope that this book finds its way into the hands of every parent. At a time when more and more of our youth seem to be questioning their worth and struggling from the pressures of stress and social media, we need real and effective tools to reach them before it’s too late. In her book, “Live Love Now,” Rachel Macy Stafford offers us exactly that - an invitation to reignite the light in our children through love, listening, acceptance and guiding encouragement. After reading Rachel’s inspiring words, I feel armed to help guide my children through tough times that lie ahead for them. For tough times even now. This beautiful book offers a roadmap to building authentic connections with the young ones in our life. A roadmap toward equipping our children with gifts of self-confidence, independence, self-worth, creative, unbound expression and self-love. Implementing the encouraging techniques in “Live Love Now” will open so many windows of opportunity, growth and hope for our children. I have already seen it in my own children. If every parent had these tools to help their children not only be seen, but to shine, just think what our little ones could become. If every child felt seen, encouraged, loved and accepted, just think what the world could become.

The World Needed This Book

The universe needs Rachel Macy Stafford’s Live Love Now more than it ever has and it is a truly wonderful anchor in this uncertain, emotional time. The premise of the book stems from an index card exercise in which Stafford asked teens, “If you could give your parents or the world one message, what would it be?” What follows is a grace-giving, life-giving exploration of how to be there for the younger generation in a truly present and meaningful way. As a (decidedly imperfect) mom of four children ranging in age from 5 to 13, I appreciated how honest and human Rachel is as she shares her journey. The book is encouraging, making it clear that it is never too late to give our love and acceptance to our children and that every small step or change of heart is significant and relationship-building. A wonderful “side effect” of this book is that, in outlining ways we can accept, include, anchor, encourage, and foster resilience and worthiness in our youth, she provides a roadmap for how to do that for ourselves as well. Throughout the book, Rachel Macy Stafford refers to her “dreamer girl,” her inner dreamer and true self, and how she recovered that part of herself. This book speaks to the dreamers, the core “selves” in all of us that are longing to be found and shared, and reading it has already helped me to become a better and more authentic parent and person.
