A: This model is a Window Air Conditioner only. There isn't a heat mode. You'll have 8,000 BTU's of cooling capacity that will work well in medium sized rooms up to 350 sq ft. It does offer built in Wi-Fi that will allow you to use the SmartHQ app so you can monitor, schedule, and control your connected air conditioner from anywhere, get energy reporting or se-up geolocation.

A: Hello - The installation instructions for each of our window air conditioners are for the standard double-hung windows and storm windows. You would need to modify the installation for other types of windows. Our air conditioner can be installed without the side curtain panels if needed to fit in a narrow window. Q: For use while sleeping, does this unit have a setting that keeps the fan on continuously, but will cycle the compressor on and off as needed to maintain a set temperature?

A: Hi there - Great question! The air filter behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned at least every 30 days. To remove the filter, open the inlet grille by pulling downward on the tabs at the top upper corners of the inlet grille until the grille is in a 45 degree position. Remove the filter. Clean the filter with warm soapy water. Rinse and let the filter dry before replacing it. Don't clean the filter in a dishwasher. These instructions can be found on page 8 in the owner's manual. No Local API
AC works perfectly fine - just needs a local network api that didn't require the app to connect the AC to HomeAssistant. Forcing the use of the app for network control brings more security vulnerabilities by opening it to the internet and to Haier's servers for attack. I wish I could block all internet traffic and integrate with HomeAssistant so that I can reduce those chances. Also, because I registered my AC I now get bombarded with emails telling me to review the product.

AWESOME!!
This air conditioner has cooled my whole 1st floor, even with a mini hallway from my living room to my kitchen. It's very quiet. My TV doesn't have to be turned up and I don't have to turn the fan speed down to talk on the phone. The installation was extremely easy, and it doesn't weight a ton. There are a lot of different controls/settings to choose for you specific need. I love the ECO setting option. This is really a great air conditioner and most definitely worth the price. I can't review the Energy topic yet due to just installing it and not receiving an electric bill yet.

Dripped and sprayed rust water after only a few months of use, dismal Haier product support
I have owned many window AC units in the past and this unit is by far the worst. I owned a small Haier unit in the past that worked well for many years. Due to the QHNG08AA's price tag I expected at least the same quality, if not better. To start with, the cooling performance for this 8000 BTU unit is mediocre at best. If you keep it on for a prolonged period of time you will likely be able to keep a small room cool in the heat. The louvres, or fins, to direct airflow don't really provide much directional control. The majority of airflow will more or less be output directly in front of the unit. The worst thing with this unit is that after only a few months of use, I noticed that the rear unit was leaking rust water onto my white window ledge. Later with more use with greater frequency it would begin to splash rust water on the side onto my home's siding. On the back of the unit, it seemed you could see indications of an area of rust towards the bottom of the fins as well as alot of rust inside the unit. The unit was installed per manufacturer's directions and specifications and I have installed many different sized AC window units over the years in this window. I have NEVER had a window unit rust on me, least of all after so little use. After experiencing the frustration of this as well as the staining on both my white window ledge as well as my home's siding, we decided to reach out to Haier support. After many long phone calls and Haier representatives suggesting calling other phone numbers (with departments that were oftentimes closed or unavailable), we were offered a ridiculous grand total of $50 in compensation for this unit. Haier never even managed to faciltate this. We finally gave up trying their support as all it did was waste our time. Our home has sustained discoloration damage from the rust water splashed by this unit. We will never again buy or recommend another Haier product. Completely unacceptable especially for a pricier unit.

Awful
Had the unit just over a year. Used it for a week or so last summer and two days this summer. Quit working today for no reason. Started flashing all lights annd beeping. And Haier won’t help because it’s past the one year mark. Don’t buy this unit

Product sucks
never really worked right from day 1. it would cool great for a couple months, then it wouldn't. got Feb 2022 and as of March 2023 it quit cooling all together. don't waste your money on this product.

Control board issue, unit failed after 18 months
After 18 months the unit started having electrical issues where the control panel buttons would not change the settings and only the remote would control the machine, it would also shut off randomly and not turn back on unless unplugged and plugged back in. This would fix the issue for some minutes or hours. Also, using the buttons on the machine seemed to trigger the AC to go into this failure mode. Haier CS states that the machines are disposible and offered a GE friends and family discount to save a little money on buying another. Definately not! I would expect this to last at least 3 to 4 years. I would stay away from their electronically controlled units as it's just another failure point.

AVOID! BAD PRODUCT!
i bought this air conditioner for my bedroom not even a week ago and when i went to go turn it on just now it made a continuous beeping noise as other ppl have said. i tried turning the power button on and switching to the "cool" option and it would run for like 3 seconds, turn off and then go back on to beeping again. i already tried draining the water, cleaning the air filter, resetting it and no solution whatsoever. avoid buying this piece of caca 👎
