Book Synopsis
More tales of modern mythological creatures--from Yetis to sea serpents, from Florida Man to the Jersey Devil, all told with tongue in cheek and with eyes wide open. This new, lighthearted collection features stories of Yetis, sea serpents, the Jamaican Crow, "Florida Man," and many more mythical creatures--including not one but two tales of the fearsome Jersey Devil! A diverse array of comics talent ranges from ancient Mongolia and the northern reaches of Alaska to the mean streets of Brooklyn, all in search of the world's most bizarre creatures.About the Author
Alisa Kwitney was an editor at DC Comics/Vertigo and is the Eisner-nominated author of graphic novels, romantic women's fiction, and urban fantasy. She was one of the authors of A Flight of Angels, which made YALSA's Top Ten List for Great Graphic Novels for Teens, and the YA graphic novel Token, named a highlight of the Minx imprint by PW. Alisa has an MFA from Columbia University. Her thesis, Till the Fat Lady Sings, a comedy of manners about college and eating disorders, made The New York Times' new and noteworthy in paperback list. Her latest novel, Rogue: Untouched, was published with Aconyte Books in May 2021. A recipient of the 2011 Inkpot Award for outstanding achievement in Comic Art, industry veteran Jamal Igle is the writer/artist/creator of Molly Danger for Action Lab Entertainment; the co-creator of Venture with writer Jay Faerber; the artist of the series Black from Black Mask Studios; the artist for Supergirl; the artist for Dudley Datson (with writer Scott Snyder) from Dark Horse/comiXology; and the penciler of AHOY Comics' THE WRONG EARTH. Jamal's detailed pencils have graced books as varied as The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, the all-ages action miniseries Race Against Time, and mainstream hits such as G.I.Joe, Iron Man, Spider- Man and Green Lantern. Jamal has penciled popular runs on Firestorm the Nuclear Man, Nightwing, Tangent: Superman's Reign, Superman, Supergirl, and Zatanna for DC Comics; Noble Causes for Image Comics; New Warriors for Marvel Comics; and The Wrong Earth for AHOY. He's acted on the small screen, done voiceovers for commercials, packaged books for Scholastic, and drawn storyboards for Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles and Max Steel: MX1 for Sony Animation. Jamal is also a popular guest lecturer on the subjects of comics and animation.Dimensions (Overall): 10.0 Inches (H) x 6.4 Inches (W) x .5 Inches (D)
