Book Synopsis

Renowned mental health speaker, therapist, and media personality Dr. Jay Barnett unpacks the dangerous cycle of burnout and stress, providing a powerful framework to help you reclaim your energy, peace, and purpose.

Have you noticed that we live in a world that worships exhaustion? Society tells us that rest is a luxury, and burnout is the price of success. Perhaps for you the source of that fatigue and weariness is work, financial pressure, racial discrimination, divisive politics, family strife, or some other factor. Chances are that it has led to feelings of stress, mental and physical exhaustion, and burnout. Good news--Pursuing Pace shows you that you don't have to be a victim of this.

Drawing from his work with clients, citing post-pandemic mental health trends, and sharing unique insights from his own personal transformations and faith, Dr. Jay Barnett exposes the toxic belief systems that keep people trapped in exhaustion and provides tools to overcome it and become peaceful, productive, and energized. You will learn how to realign your mind and body through his Pathways to Alleviating Cognitive Exhaustion (or P.A.C.E.):

  • Pathways: Creating sustainable routines to protect your peace
  • Alleviating: Reducing cognitive overload and mental fatigue
  • Cognitive: Rewiring your brain to break free from exhaustion cycles
  • Exhaustion: Understanding burnout is a choice and how to stop choosing it

At the end of each chapter, you'll find reflection questions designed to give you the opportunity to pause and process what you learned. And while the world may never slow down, that doesn't mean you can't.

Pursuing Pace will challenge you to reject exhaustion as the norm and redefine success on your own terms without sacrificing your wellbeing.
