I got this during the pandemic to keep the kids off the screen! Our 8 and 6 year old loved it and soon built their own runs! Our 2 year old even liked putting the marbles at the start and watching it make its way through the maze.I love the imaginations and creativity this allows them! We have since gotten an extender set to make longer and higher mazes! I highly recommend it for any parent that have kids that tinker with things! It’s awesome!

Great concept, except the most advanced design - the Track Obstacle - does not work!

3 out of 5 stars
Vivian - 4 years ago
The kit is actually very difficult for any kid under 12. To make it workable, I rehearsed each design in the booklet, then dismantled it, and had my son try it, with me as his "assistant." That worked for the designs A-I. As for the most challenging one, the "track obstacle," I set it up exactly according to the instructions (took 3 hours). It did not work in the end, even though you can follow the path of each ball and see how it's supposed to work (theoretically). But the path is too long, the initial "push out the door" did not have enough force, so the whole thing failed in the end. I won't have my son try this, because it would lead to a colossal let-down, after he has put enormous effort into it. Aside from that, the kit is lots of fun, and a great challenge for bright kids.

Excellent Marble Run

5 out of 5 stars
bmjcdj - 4 years ago
I have always loved marble runs. I always feel like I am designing a rollercoaster and I can imagine myself riding the runs created. I have used several in the past and purchased 2 different types. However the Gravitrax is by far superior. There are 3 things about the Gravitrax that make it stand out from other Marble Runs that I have used. 1: Instructions, 2: Versatility and 3: The Marble can go up? 1) Instructions: Most marble runs I have used in the past come with limited instructions. The instruction manual with the Gravitrax comes with a 48 page Instruction book. This includes 33 different tracks that can be constructed with the pieces included. 24 of these have a "figure it out" portion to complete the track. Of course this does not mean that one cannot create their own. However, after following the instructions on several tracks, completing your own track becomes much more satisfying since you have a better idea of how the pieces fit together. 2) Versatility: While the wide base has this marble run take up a lot of table space, it also provides huge versatility. One can create 3 simultaneous runs that span the full board. Beware, with over 100 components, it is still easy to run out of pieces if you get too ambitious. 3) The Marble Can go up?: One of the most surprising things about this Run, is that there are a couple of different ways for the Marble to go up hill. This can be accomplished similar to a Rollercoaster or with a special magnetic piece that shoots a marble when another hits it. This adds a whole new level to a traditional Marble Run. It also complicates things and requires much trial and error to make sure the marble will run smoothly. This Marble Run is marvelously entertaining. It has already given my family and I hours of enjoyment in the short week we have owned it. I highly recommend it. I received a copy of this product in exchange for my opinion

The next marble set you should get.

4 out of 5 stars
CatPaPa - 4 years ago
I received this product for my honest opinion. My children are veteran Hape marble set builders, and Gravitrax takes marble pathway building to another level. It is definitely the next set to get for kids who are ready to move on to more complex marble fun. It arrived right after my oldest turned 5 and was excited to see what "gift" was in the box. We went right into playing with it. We followed the instructions to build the easy level designs and had lots of fun constructing it and watching the marbles go. We then started making our own designs. I thumbed through the instructions and it looks like as the design difficulty gets harder, they don't tell you where to put the pieces that they list and let you figure it out yourself. It makes it more fun and puzzle like instead of just following instructions all the time. The pieces are plastic and the base is cardboard, so you do have to be careful about handling the pieces or they may break. Younger kids would have to be supervised while playing with it, but it's a great toy for an elementary school kid. I would definitely get it for any child who is into building things and making things move.

Really fun marble run

Jeebjorb - 4 years ago
I received a set of these in exchange for my honest opion. My 7 year old daughter and I spent all night playing with these. I honestly have just as much fun as her playing with these. It's fun to watch her problem solving and learning to find solutions. They seem to be well made. The marbles roll well, and don't get stuck. My only issue is I wish the base plate wasn't made of cardboard. I could see it wearing out.

My 8 year old loves this! He was so excited when it showed up in the mail today. He opened it immediately and wanted to start building. Building instructions are easy to follow he can build on his own. He made it through 6 of the track designs before bedtime and still has a bunch left to build and try for another day. Pieces easily fit together and made well. He loves the magnetic cannon the best so far! If you have a kid who loves to build things then this is for them! Even Dad loved to build too! One thing I would like is a baggie or pouch to store all the pieces and marbles. We just used ziploc bags to keep things organized in the box and so we don’t lose the marbles. As an early reviewer, I received the GraviTrax Starter Set in exchange for my honest opinion.

Really Fun Marble Run

4 out of 5 stars
TjonelleC - 4 years ago
I love these tracks. The cannon is fun to incorporate into designs. My 7 year old daughter and I spent all night building these. You don't need any force to set anything up, everything just sets in place. If I had a con, it would be that the instructions for building the tracks are not very detailed. On occasion it can be a bit confusing.

Bought Gravitrax starter set as a birthday gift for my son. Pros: -It a great educational toys which keeps him engaged for about an hour. -He is very excited and proud when he builds his own track. Cons: -The base board is made of cardboard which is not great on a carpeted area. -The parts fits loosely after another a month of use -The magnetic canon does not work consistently even for the tracks given in the book and that frustrates my son -This toy is expensive, apart from magnetic canon I hope it had more fun parts for the price.
