A: It varies on how wide the space is you are mounting the gate. You twist a knob on each bracket to tighten/loosen. I’ve blocked a door that was 35 inches wide and one that was 40 inches wide. However the closer you get to the max width (41.5 inches) the more wobbly the brackets are

Q: What amount of force would be required to break the gate off the wall? Let's say a toddler ran straight into it at full speed. I've had tension shower curtains come off the wall by merely closing the curtain.

A: No a child wouldn't be able to knock the gate over it is held pretty well by brackets

Q: At full width, how much of a gap is there between the outer bars and the wall? Worried my puppy could slip through at the sides. (It'll be in a 39" opening.)

A: Hello, To prevent the gate from being pushed over we would recommend following the manufacturer’s instructions on installing the wall cups.

The space I am blocking off is 36" wide. The box says 29-41.5" wide the gate will work for. The gate is too wide to fit that space of 36". The directions says the gap between the lock is normal and once you bend the gate and the tension will adjust for the door to lock. No it doesn't and back it goes. Why make something so simple so hard to install.

If you wanted to kick it and trip over it everytime you open the gate, then this is for you. The top falls down as soon as it's opened. If you're carrying your child or other things through it, prepare to stub your toes and fall down.

I would give 0/5 stars if able. Poor directions on assembly. In addition, the tension never gets tight enough to stay mounted on the wall. I tried multiple doorways in my home and does not work. Very disappointed.

I followed the directions to the letter. Is it not the point of a gate to LATCH so that it will stay closed and keep whatever species of young beings in the home from getting into danger or trouble? How will this be accomplished if the latches do not reach? The whole thing, other than the bottom bar and hinge pegs, is held together by pressure once it is installed, but there is simply no closing this "gate." I like that each pressure pad works independently, which means this can be installed on uneven walls or level with baseboards, but if the gate cannot close and latch, there is absolutely no point, no gate, and NO protection for babies, toddlers, or puppies. This could have been a fairly brilliant concept, blown to you-know-what by shoddy choosing of parts in the factory.

Our doorway is 37 inches and this gate did not fit. With one extension it was too narrow and wobbly, with both extensions it was too wide and would t fit. No way to make it work. Would be ok for a smaller doorway or one over 38/39”

Claims it's pressure mounted but instructions involve drilling cups into the wall. It may still technically be pressure mounted but it completely defeats the purpose at that point and you have no way of knowing about that until you buy it.

This gate fits well at the top of our stairs to keep our puppy from going to the lower level. The entrance door of the gate is a little narrow so we have to be mindful when entering/exiting, but overall it's great!

I bought 3 of these baby gates in July for my top of stairs, bottom of stairs, and another doorway. It is now October and 2 of them have completely broken. They receive normal and not rough use and the door piece literally just broke at the top plastic hinge both times. The screws just broke off. They were just completely a waste of money. I would not buy one of these again.

Would not recommend for babies. Just installed it yesterday and already My 10 month old got his arm stuck in the bottom part where the bars curve and become more narrow, as pictured. The door opening is also really narrow, only 16 inches across. Returning this and buying the Toddleroo gate instead as it doesn’t have those curved bar spots and the opening is much larger at 22 inches .
